Yup skill issue for sure. Game is pretty easy on normal.
let alone on default difficulty...
If they really hit you mid your combos it just flat out means you arent dodging. You get clear signals when something is about to hit you and you can dodge out of any combo or action to avoid it.
the venom attacks are consumable abilities, they're not very reliable
it's funny how i never died to a boss fight, i only died to these underground idiots
when the boss fights are easier than the goon fights that's a problem
when you fight Phin she's like a freaking god there's nothing she can't do, that bs technology she uses makes Spiderman look like a chump . it's just bs
she's trying to stop the evil rich white guy by blowing up his building but with her godlike abilities she could just fly anywhere he is and squash him like an insect... like why are we blowing up a building when you can just show up to him and kill him ???? this whole thing is so dumb
It feels like the game is forcing you to use venom because that's the point they're supposed to encourage using venom so you get used to using it in combat. I probably wouldn't have been able to beat spectacular difficulty without venom because the games' enemies are balanced around your ability to use venom.
I did come off beating Spider-Man Remastered a week ago so most of the enemy tactics in that game cross right over into this game as well as the player techniques learned to dodge attacks. The Venom powers only make the attacks more fun as in the previous game without Venom powers it was just combos after combos that felt redundant after awhile.
To the original poster: yeah, it can get cheesy. I beat it on the PS5, but I felt the same way you do. They're a bit much.
As others have said, the game kind of strongly pushes you towards using the venom powers as much as possible. Pete had a lot of gadgets that broke up swarms and gave you some great AOE / crowd control. Miles does not. You get four gadgets, you can't upgrade them as much as Pete could, and you run out of them pretty quick if you make heavy use.
But unlike Pete, you have quickfire venom abilities. Left bumper and this does a dash. Left bumper and this does an air launch. So on and so forth. Each venom ability works particularly well against a particular goon type, and once you get them down... the game swarms get manageable. You'll melt if you get hit, but you'll be fine as long as you keep moving and venom venom venom.
There is a suit upgrade that gives bonus venom orbs and another that applies venom damage to enemies after a certain number of hits. I think that one even heals you as you hit them. Lean into these upgrades and you'll be fine.
Also, Miles can go invisible whenever he wants... so he has more emphasis on going invisible, disengaging from combat, and then punishing someone from out of sight. Hit and run tactics when venom runs low.
I liked being Pete a lot more, but so it goes. Different character, different skill sets. Miles has more forgiving stealth and cool venom powers, but cruddy gadget powers and all his enemies are neon purple versions of the occasionally tedious enemy types from the last Marvel's Spider-Man DLC. Such is life, I suppose. Haha.
But all in all I found the enemys also quite well balanced.
