Audio problems

Is it just me or is surround sound not working? Tried with atmos and 7.1 only got stereo :-(

I'm having issues with the sound clipping and cutting in and out of each channel. The sound will go to the right ear, then the left ear, and get glitchy/stuttery sounding with my headset on. If i go through my 5.1 speakers its same thing, it'll glitch between speakers where the majority of the sound will switch from speaker to speaker, similar to the sound of not having them plugged in all the way (both the speakers and headset are plugged in fine and all other games/movies/browsers work fine).
