I'm honestly sure it is, it does look fun but character customization is a really big part of games for me, and having 0 choices for one of the more important aspects of the games really rough. if it was a generic 90s anime spikey hair default I could live with that but i just cant get over the two foot side pony. Ill keep an eye out for sure
people want non binary choice selection because they don't wnat to be reminded about their wrong gender even if it just a simple text. its good that the game acknowledge the needs of it.
but then we are forced to have feminine body type despite there is masculine gender. so its not okay if text is insulting someone gender but its okay if its body type?
i certainly don't want playing as masculine forced to wear feminine body, i feel likes alien wearing human skin which is not mine, and i believe many others feels the same which is why lots of people want non binary gender because people don't want to become something which is not their gender or their roleplay as.
if the game forced mc as femine either way, might as well make predetermined identity protagonist so that we can have voice over like other se games
some people will say 'jrpg alaways have girly etc etc so cope it" then why there is a need of choosing gender and body?
might as well have predetermined character
people who said that just dont want their game being criticized. the character creation is weird and that's the truth.
Heck, none of the Rune Factory Games let you do more than MAYBE change your clothing and that's it. If an entire game is ruined because you can't be 'Self Insert, The Harem King/Queen' then you need to maybe review what types of games you've been playing. Maybe look into Visual Novels instead so you can make believe it's you.
Yeah I find the forced highly feminine outfit on my Male Character who I set as Male to be a little bothersome but I can look past it. Gameplay is nice, story is pretty alright for what it is, I enjoy the game overall. Just because I can't tailor my character to look exactly the same as I do in games with deep customization doesn't mean the game is any worse for it.
Giving a game a negative score because "Ugh no Wish Fulfillment in Character Customization, why can't it be as in depth as Black Desert Online??" is a kinda crappy thing to do.
It is honestly just incredibly lazy. It would have taken maybe a day to include 2 more options. The "male" character looks female. Not feminine. Female. I've watched a lot of anime and stuff and never seen such an effeminate male character. It is made even worse considering they added a non-binary gender option, since many non-binary people avoid strong feminine or masculine appearances.
The only way to tell it is the "male" option is to compare directly with the female option and see that the female option has larger breasts.
It is just lazy. There is really no excuse.
'Singular They' is not an error when used correctly and has been in use for cneturies.

And as for what the game actually does, it uses whichever gender you pick. I chose a female character and she's always refereed to as such.
The irony.
