Looks like FFXIV asset flip
the main character is dressed in FFXIV endwalker costume and the backdrop looks like shadowbringers. I am guessing the combat is like "tales of" series RPG? idk

Huh? You are unabashedly being a troll. For one the art style is COMPLETELY different. Plus the engines are radically different. FFXIV is in a square proprietary engine called Crystal Works or something like that. This game is done by a completely different team and is done in Unreal. This game is more the Bravely Default art style. If anything this is what Bravely Default 2 would have been if they hadn't gone that slightly weird Chibi look that they did.
Nah, Babylon's Fall was the asset flip (and I'm not kidding, they actually did take a bunch of clothing/armor models from FF XIV.)

they have been working on this for years. they approached me about it in 2019

I WISH this was an FF14 asset flip. You clearly never played FF14.

would have made more sense to say its a bravely default flip, atleast the art would look similar then lol

Certainly not a complete asset flip, but they definitely used a ton of FFXIV animations, coding, etc in this game. The kids all walk like lalafel, the surprised emote, the MC models and clothing are basically twins reskinned. A lot of the leaves on the trees and such are also very much based exactly on the ones from XIV.

The game follows a sort of long story progression that elevates itself (but in a shorter period) than the entirety of the FF14 Hydaelyn saga (ARR to Endwalker).

But I do see a lot of 'creative' inspirations between all those games mentioned above on this thread... Because every one of them are published by Square Enix, meaning cross-pollinated staffing maybe?

Some of the stuff is like XIV and other FF. The Mage stance is literally White Mage's from XIV with weapon out. The default stance is Lightning's from FF13. I mean look at the save spehere things. It's legit the Cocoon and Serah's necklace lol.
That's really not that uncommon, though. Making that stuff takes time so companies often reuse where they can.

I saw from one of the reviewer videos that the artists who did the character model artwork for job classes worked on the FF13 series for the designs.

So Live Wire does have veteran Final Fantasy devs for sure.

Did you know this game has NG+? I only learned it in a random posting on the forum lol.

Definitely FFXIV mechanics, like it's basically unquestionable, but as a FFXIV addict I like it lol. There's also bravely default vibes, etrian odyssey exploration with FOES and points of interest, and other FF terms/concepts. And of course the many rune factory parallels. Yet somehow it all comes together ok, I'm cool with it.

Basically a "What if we took a bunch of talented FF devs and threw them in a room for a couple of months?" moment.

If this game was XIV without the redditors it could actually be a good thing.
