the only thing I can find is that they say "as you complete their story you become closer" or something along those lines. Doesn't scream romance, but it doesn't refute it either.

In Magamerica, you can.

It look like a good game enough even though it does not have a marries system. But I like a game with romace scene too.

Based on https://www.gematsu.com/2022/06/square-enix-announces-life-simulation-rpg-harvestella-for-switch-pc this is all we know I think so far.

"Comrades – Players will encounter new friends, such as “Shrika,” a missionary in search of a new faith, “Heine,” a flirtatious and handsome mechanic, “Asyl,” a descendant of the Wind Readers, and “Aria,” a mysterious girl who says she has come from the future. By facing their problems and their different ways of life, you will gain a better understanding of your allies"

Personally I would prefer if we didn't have any romance or babies in this one because I assume if they do put that in it will be like Rune Factory which is just waifu/husbando? wish fulfillment often involving cute characters among which at least half seem like they are way too young... Sadly even if they tried making a real romance given that it's a japanese game it would likely be too sweet for my tastes I'm afraid but I still hope they'll prove me wrong.

Sometimes I really wish japanese game designers would learn to balance that aspect because japanese games tend to either be super sweet or do a complete 180 and turn out super dark and sad.

a big part of life sims is interpersonal relationships which includes romance. Not having it would be like having a a JRPG without anime tropes. Can it happen? yeah, but it wouldn't feel like a jrpg without them and leave people feeling like it was lacking.

I get romance in video games might not be your thing, but in other games it was largely optional. You could go through the whole game without taking part in the romance aspect.

Seems like you wish Japanese tastes would change to be more based on your standards. Some people enjoy Japanese games for the more Japanese styles. Not trying to be rude, but as a Japanese native this is just a thing I see a lot from westerners.

That is very disappointing. Can you post a link to the review?

You can have romance without falling into waifu/husbando tropes it doesn't have to be like that.

I hope this game has romance but I'm not too bothered about babies. In Rune Factory by the time they were appearing I was just about done with the game and they had to do those 5 year time skips so you had a child not just a baby but it just felt weird how everything was still the same especially the other child characters.

There is no information on if you can have children or adopt children. The creators of this game said that after you have completed the main story then you will be able to choose a life partner. The creator said that he doesn't like using the word marriage. I hope that we will be able to adopt from the orphanage, but I haven't seen any information about children yet

Which in coperate speak, is essentially the same as saying "no we won't have children in the game". There's no way you're getting a big company to deny that something won't be IN the game, as it harms the potentional pre-orders.

This reads like Dragons Dogma-phenomenon to me. You "pick" one of X npcs to walk around dead and static around you. My money stays in my pocket until we get a serious fleshed out and proper romance system, no less than what Rune Factory or Harvest moon has.

Hopefully they will listen to the public and let is have children or adopt a child. If not then the game will get poor reviews and if they try to make a sequel then nobody will buy it
