On the Steam library page for Fences 4 the last patch notes are from May 23rd, 2024. The update I'm referring to seems more recent, and I was already on 4.22 so something tells me it's a new update... That said I can't confirm right now as I'm concerned about the update breaking something so I haven't downloaded it. as far as I know... I definitely picked "no".
Furthermore, did you even LOOK at the links you supplied me with? NEITHER have a recent patch notes. Both patch notes on both supplied links (which i already looked at, hence coming here) both show last patch as May 23rd, 2024.
So perhaps you can tell me, what is the most current version of Fences 4? Is it 4.22? If so, why did I get notified about an update when I'm already on 4.22?
I love the second comment, really BAD energy for someone who is supposed to be representing a company, like you're so desperate to tell me I'm stupid for missing the obvious. No offence, but if people are hostile to you, it's likely because you have an unprofessional and seemingly antagonistic style of "customer service". Apathetic, flippant, arrogant.
There were so many ways to reply that could have been more useful to both of us. Be better.

I checked all those places BEFORE I asked here.
Last patch notes are from nearly a year ago.
I was already on 4.22 and was notified of an update I chose not to download.
You're doing a poor job of representing Stardock.
EDIT: I forgot that I even pointed out I had looked in all the places for the patch notes in my OP.

So, did the app just have a goofy moment and there is no update?
OR, is there an update, no updated/posted patch notes as of 13:41 GMT, 9/2/2024, and you likely owe me an apology for not even looking before you link and act like I'm somehow incapable of finding the relevant information?
I actually think you should escalate this to whoever is in charge of you so we can get to the bottom of this.

Also, marked change in tone. Far more professional, still entirely unhelpful.
You should just accept it happened because the last thing I want to do is engage with Stardock and your customer service personally. I wouldn't make it up. I already know that this forum is essentially hidden to anyone who doesn't own F4, so are the reviews. No one of your potential marks or victims are likely to see this message even though I'd broadcast it straight into everyone's homepage if I could.

That may be the case, but it's interesting you never asked for it the first two times you replied.
I mean, it's almost like you're blaming me for not taking the screenshot like I should have been ready for the pop up.
I expect that you personally don't actually know a single bit about the development side of the program, or QA or anything that would equip you personally with the ability to produce the pop-up yourself.
If you can install an old version, and look for updates, I'm sure you'd see the pop up.
Honestly though, basj66, I have so little faith in your ability to address the issue that you might as well not respond to this message or any other questions I have.
I will never pay for another Stardock software.
The only words I put stock in from you.
Occasionally, Support will come in and help out, but they will also need more information to identify the issue.
Do note, your very first post was on patch note, no? That is why I did not asked you about the popup message.

I'm getting such a kick out of reading these threads on reddit and stuff right now, you've been in the same arguments about Fences 5 and Stardock's business practices for YEARS. It's not till you really start looking you see just how poor Stardock's reputation really is. Like the Fences 3 to 4 threads are also quite riveting. Just the same dark cycle. Nickle and dime people, get slammed on reviews and in general discussions, quarantine and blackhole old product, upset a bunch of new people.
I looked at the Stardock Customer Report 2015 document that comes up on google too. " 92% of customers have a very or somewhat positive view (exact same as last year)." I wonder how true that was then, and I wonder what the opinions are now?
Oh well. Time to use an alternative program, I think.
I look forward to seeing all the drama that a Fences 6 brings and the state of the reviews of Fences 5 when you quarantine the store page with the fresh release.

As you can see, I updated in July 2024. Yet, it's February 2025 and I'm getting notified for an update I apparently already have?
So, can we get further clarification on the current patch, or whatever it is it's trying to install? Unless it fixes Fences 4 I'm not installing it... But no patch notes. Apparently no update.. What gives?
Please, I waited some time at this stage for a reply from "support".

Okay, I had another picture to verify the version I was on, but I can't be bothered uploading it too right now. I just wanted to demonstrate/verify that this message is popping up now from time to time.
As above. I last patched in July shortly after 4.22. Now it says there is a patch again. So, not really on me to think about or trouble shoot this any further.
