Whats the point of the rat cloak?

So i got the rat cloak, but i fail to see the point since if offers 1 def but you cant have it AND the shield which offers 3def.
If anything im more annoyed i unlocked it since now i need to kill 1 less rat if im grinding out sacrifices.

The rat cloak's def scales with the buff, so if you keep talking to the guards you can get 5def.

I wish there was a toggle for it, though, since where you are right now it's just annoying, yeah.

oh damn those buffs go that far? dang. i usually turn my computer off at night but im tempted to leave it running now lol
