I just successfully joined with https://discord.com/invite/beatbanger so i'm not sure why there were issues before but it seems fine to me now.
I did have to pull up Discord itself, clicking the link opened browser Discord but the link was sent to my desktop client, but it didn't bring the desktop client into focus. I had to open it myself and the prompt to confirm joining showed up there.
