DSX
By default, does DSX (no emulation) offer anything that steam PS5 input (steam official) does not?
If a game supports the controller then does having DSX active provide any benefit to the game without DSX customization? Yakuza like a dragon for example. Are the vibrations better or anything?

I get the point of using x360 emulation within the game as well, but is that also the same thing as forcing steam to recognize the controller as a x360? How does the emulation differ without customization?

Well in v3, you'd have more customization like remapping, macros, turbo etc.. that you can configure which the game will see.

This is all stuff Steam can already do though and has been able to do since at least 2016 when they added Dualshock 4 support.
The question was what features do you have that Steam does not already, not what are you adding to catch up to Steam.

I wish I would have seen this thread before starting my own basically asking the same thing (I asked who was buying this lol)

The question becomes even more confounding when you know there's a github version that's completely free, it just stops at a certain update and the rest of the updates are on Steam; so buying this doesn't even make sense if you can't get the Steam overlay to load in a game because there's a free version.

You didn't even read his response. Steam does not offer macros and turbo. Additionally, the current version has adaptive trigger remapping, haptic feedback adjustments (not just on/off like Steam does, actual adjustments), and more. You can also force the game to see your DS5 as a DS4 instead of an Xbox controller, or just use it as a passthrough with the settings you apply.

LMAO What!??
Steam DEFINITELY offers Turbo the option is literally
"Hold to repeat (Turbo)"
which you can enhance further by adding Toggle On
and macros are setup using the cycle commands, sub commands, and extra commands functions.
How you gonna try and defend the dev when you don't even know what you're talking about bruh? :zaglol: Step back, go for a walk, you're not equipped for this.

I didn't know about Turbo Mode, but I can guarantee that Steam Input's macros are dysfunctional as all hell. Have you tried using them? Half the time they don't trigger inputs in the right order or timing. It's highly inconsistent, both from my desktop (Ryzen 7 5800X w/ GTX 1660ti on an SSD) and my Steam Deck itself.

I'm entirely equipped for this, you're just finding an excuse to leave the discussion thinking you've won regardless of what happens. By the way, I'm not defending the dev, nor anyone for that matter. I'm stating facts about how this functions, and telling you why I bought it. But right "everyone who bought it is an idiot."

The only one talking about defending anything is you. Maybe you're trying to defend the fact you're too cheap to buy this? We're long past this having more features, as I only gave you the current status quo. We have absolutely no clue what new features are in v3, which is an entire revamp of the core codebase and a huge upgrade to the existing driver.

But no, I'm "not equipped for this" clearly. Yeah, sure, say that Mr. "I don't read announcements to games I didn't buy".
