RDR2 DualSense Haptic / Rumble fail - help?
I spent hours on this last night, googling everything I could to try to get haptic feedback to work in RDR2, with absolutely no success.

Stating for context - this is the first time I'm playing a game on a PC vs on my PS5. So of course, I picked a game that doesn't naturally support my controller to try to learn all this stuff. Yay.

I am using a DualSense (not Edge). I am aware RDR2 does not natively support the DualSense, so I followed instructions and am using the DualShock 4 emulation. I found instructions on how to get PS Icons instead of XBox. So everything for the most part has been gold.

I only realized I wasn't getting haptic / rumble when I got to the fishing. So I spent literally hours on this last night trying everything I could. Messing with the settings in DSX. Installing a mod I found, which didn't work. Got frustrated enough to try DS4 Windows. It got me as far as getting haptic in the settings for the controller, but not when in actually in RDR2. I've tried wired. Etc.

There are SO many settings for haptics in version 3.0.5, it's majorly confusing what should be on, what shouldn't, etc. I tried updating to the beta, and the confusion continued. I tried going back to version 2, and wasn't any more successful. I don't know what to switch on, what to switch off, including in the haptic settings, controller settings, etc.

I think one of the issues if I remember correctly is in Steam settings, controller, I have to disable Playstation Controller Support - I think this was in relation to getting PS rather than XBox icons. Similarly, I have to disable Steam input in the RDR2 properties for something else in relation. I think it was when I enabled PS Controller Support that I actually managed to get some rumble when messing in DSX itself, but again, when in RDR2 I didn't bother actually loading my game because in the initial screen, I lost PS icons again. And I really need them.

If an easy solution is to buy and use an actual DualShock 4, I'm totally willing.

I'm only mildly tech savvy, usually really, really good at sussing out how to manage things by searching forums, etc. But trying to figure this out on my own has been fruitless. Any help - even saying what I'm trying to do just will not work so I stop wasting my time - would be appreciated. Many thanks.

simply use xbox emulation, or try steam input on otherwise no rumble is present

the adaptive trigger mod works well, just use rumble mode unless you want to experiment with haptic feedback settings , in the beta you can choose multiple haptic modes on at same time, sticks to haptics works very well for walking/riding. just be aware that for some reason steam input may need to be on for this game depending on emulation selected i believe
I also bumped on this issue, i have tried everything. I just want to play this game with Playstation button prompts and rumble/vibrations. Any luck on getting this to work?

Yes use the PS button mod, google it, and use xbox emulation or steam input

In my experience, the adaptive triggers mod works fine with Dualshock 4 emulation (rev1, rev2 controller does not). RDR2 also natively supports Dualshock 4, and will display the appropriate prompts. Ensure steam input is turned off.

There are no rumble if you play it with Dualshock 4 mode sadly.
It's better to use a button prompt mod and I play it in xbox 360 emulation.

Go download the Dualsense Icon Mod here ICON MOD [www.nexusmods.com] (I use the PS5 version)

And this is the DSX Haptic Feedback Mod Haptic Mod [www.nexusmods.com]

If you just download the Icon Mod, you can use that with Emulated Xbox 360 and you'll get vibration with Playstation Icons.

If you get both of those and install them you Emulate the Xbox 360 controller But also have Haptic Feedback with the Triggers as well.

**(Only issue I had with the DSX Haptic Mod is that I have to run DSX v2 in Steam rather than the v3.1) IF you run the normal 3.1 version of DSX you won't get the trigger haptic feedback. Icon Mod works no matter what.

*** Edit: Make sure Steam Input is disabled for RDR2 in the Steam RDR2 Properties controller setting. But have Xbox 360 Emulation on in the DSX program.

Thank you very much for all these informations !
All is working great now for me !
Unfortunately, as it's require mods, it's not possible to play Online with that.
Can we still get the accomplishments (success from Steam) unlocked in story mode using these mods ? Or will they be disabled ? :/
Thank you !
