now waiting for Ruffio to chime in
Note I actually hate discord and only use it for this game and a dnd group. But I understand the devs have chosen it as their main communication. If I bought a kitchen aid mixer from Walmart and had a question about one of the attachments, I wouldn't go to Walmart expecting support even though I bought it there. I'd go where the manufacturer says to go for questions/support.
Walmart example doesnt fit at all
That's it. This has been an argument for literally the entire development of the game ad they if anything have gone MORE towards discord.
So YOU have 3 options:
1) Join discord.
2) Sit here and hope we post things from there from time to time
3) Just wait for the content updates and know nothing between the BETA and when the releases come.
tamus Walmart example was perfect.. sorry you don't like it Yria, I spent more than my fair share in retail and selling things and yes we sent a lot of people to talk to the manufacturer instead of dealing with them ourselves just because we sold the product did not mean we had to always assist the consumer.
They post patch notes for updates to the main branch when there is one. Just check the steam update news, in case you missed it. If you want to partake in the BETA that is on their discord, as they stated over and over. Why are you playing the beta dude? You don't want to get involved in what it entails?
Tbh, they should just make people have to sign up and register for the beta. to be able to access it. Then there would be no reason for this crying.
This is DIRECTLY from the STEAM EA page for this game:
"How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?
“Community involvement is extremely important for us and is the main reason we're launching Bellwright into Early Access. Our developers are actively participating in Discord discussions about the game and we will be gathering your feedback throughout the entire development process.”
That is ALL they are required to do BY STEAM is let YOU know how they plan on communicating and they did that. So now what?? Steam should crack down on devs who are dong as asked? LOL
"respect all their customers" haha you all are wild man.
Or maybe I'm just too much of a dinosaur to grasp this whole Discord trend going on these days. Still, gating information about your product and its development progress just to try and earn some meagre commissions on Discord sounds like an utterly terrible business plan to me, even in a market as commercially gullible as the gaming industry.
Seriously, expecting your customers to run after you wherever you choose to go is totally bonkers and no amount of blind fanboyism or dubious financial motives will change that, more successful companies run entire sales and marketing departments to do the exact opposite.
If this is the way the devs want to do things, then they should not expect any sympathy for past (or future) failed projects. Their choice, their mistake, their problem. Dread the day when humanity redevelops critical thinking skills and higher expectations.
Well, you have these people who playing the beta branch, and then get upset the devs not posting patch notes for the beta branch on steam, meanwhile the devs made clear that all about the beta is on their discord, along with directions and password to be able to join the beta. The same people obtained the beta password by others share it on the forum here, not by doing it the intended way. Imho, it's all about want to be part of something without actually be part of it.
Riiiiight, okay. Now this is more clear. So, just ignore the thread and these guys seems the reasonable course of action.
nice game otherwise
