Create an outpost close to the brigands HQ, stock up on some beefy boys geared good.. Then you can quickly intercept the reclamation parties... Or you could just do them solo with a bow kite them around.
Thanks for the help, saved me from a big disappointment
I have done the FENCE MAZE technique and it does work to a point:::::>what Rufflo said--YES, they will cross underwater (even if you don't use a barricade to redirect them) and so I did BOTH ; built a self-supporting military outpost to intercept brigands too far from my headquarters AND constructed a fence maze "further inland" making a funnel or bottleneck at one end of the bridge and then fencing them to a winding path that eventually opens: <---I found that if the path I made was closed off, the brigands would avoid the maze altogether, but if I left a way out, then the reclamation group would wander in the maze for a few extra in-game-hours, giving me time to set up my defense.
This is even more effective if you can fence them into a forest filled with wolves =}
So I just built forts out of fences. As close to where the bridges joined the land. My go to was a shape like two E's facing each other, slightly offset. this created a big square with a division down the middle, with narrow hallways where the limbs of the E's were side by side.
At the corners were entrances. I found that by added more fences, I could get the gap small enough that I could run through it, but enemies couldn't. I could still attack through the gap too. The morningstar was the most helpful here, because a lot of of the attacks were downward smashes. Side to side attacks kept hitting the fence. But downward smashes went right down the gap, hitting enemies.
I built a bunch of signposts around the area, and when attacks were inbound I'd fast travel there and just hang out in the fencing fort. Wipe whole squads out.
It's worked good so far.
Fences can be a false security though. I had cases where they just ported/floated through the fence.
easier to just build a stockpile and climb on top of the stockpile. Even gives you storage space to store ammo and loot. Just dodge the arrows or focus their archers whatever works betetr for you. Once their archers run out of ammo they will go into melee too. T2&3 arrows that the brigants drop, they are strong enough to pierce brigants armor.
that's not for me. I don't want it THAT easy ... I'll build obstacles to dodge behind, but I do not make it impossible for them to get to me. There's no fun in that.
