Can't get pelts for 2nd mission
I've placed 30 traps, with berries and mushrooms, with rabbits in the area, rabbits not in the area. In forested areas, out in the open. Still none of my traps have sprung. Please remove the extra bonus for handing in a pelt and just add it to handing in 3 traps, or allow random mobs to drop a pelt if your not going to be able to get it from a trap.

Traps work for me, no problem. You can also kill rabbit with bow or wolf with any weapon, for pelts.

I don't have bows unlocked and I can't really chase after them, sure I can catch up to them but as soon as I swing I walk and they hop out of range.

traps are working just fine for me, i had an absurd amount of pelts before i started turning using the tannery. stop asking for extra mission objectives to be removed because you aren't able to get something easily.

Wolves drop a pelt

I have yet to see a wolf.

I think having 33 traps and not one of them snaring anything is a buggy system, maybe make it so they can only be placed in areas that they can snare something, otherwise there is a bug and you can do it and a bunch of others are having issues. Fix the issue and bring back the extra mission objectives once you figured out the issue. Don't penalize players because of some mechanic that isn't working correctly.

It doesn't help out a player who is placing traps in an area that has rabbits, but maybe that rabbit spawn area wont snare traps because someone forgot to add a tag to the rabbit spawn. That's something that a player can't know unless he looks at the code.

You need to go out there and explore - get an ax, a shield and go for a wolf. The beauty of his game is variety - you can set a trap, hunt wolves or go and find a trader, that will sell you pelt you need.

I finaly found a wolf, and it was in an area I ran between my camp and the starter town. I guess it didn't spawn in.

But still this is an issue. I wonder if you head east you can lay down a trap and it works, but if you head north or west they don't work. I haven't gone south yet.

Honestly mate, you gotta report it then, as a bug. I placed my traps south of first village, in the areas that are marked as forested on the map (darker patches with tree symbols on them) and never had any problems.

I played a game where I decided to lay down several traps rather than just 2 or 3 in a specific area (I saw a youtuber do it and thought maybe 'animal population' isn't a thing). After several days, the traps stopped producing kills. From that day onwards, I NEVER had a trap work, no matter if I wiped em and put down 1 or 2. So it may be a bug, or it may be a 'over-hunting' mechanic. I now mever drop more than 3 in a specific 'grove'. The issue has not resurfaced.

I have never placed more then five traps, I gotta admit. But with eight people and trapper hut I swam in small pieces of meat of all sorts to the extend, I stopped using it at all. But I play it slow if it comes to progress. Trying to role play and don't cheat too much - I decided if my companion dies, however valuable, it's done. And such.
I understand that if one kill all population of any given animals IN THE AREA, they stop to show up and reappear after pretty long time.

If your traps are not working: Did you place them in a Heavily Forested area like it tells you? Not the areas you see rabbits hopping around. So for example, the first flat area below the starting town, where most people make their first hut. Just across that road there is a forest with Mushrooms. Place 3 traps near the mushrooms, under the big trees (or however many you want, but 3 gives me heaps of meat etc). Place 1 Berry in each trap. Walk off and when they are ready, you'll see a blue light beam shooting up from them. Go collect and re-berry them. They break after 3 uses. I set my crafting to make "Up to 3 traps always", and the towns folk just go replace the traps when they collect drops.
