Imagine going to a blacksmith and being like.. hey can you fix this and them being like.. na.. better wait till it breaks.. haha.. like please just make this an option.
Your dudes will bring broken weapons to your workbench and repair them. Isn't that auto repair good enough?
Sure.. but.. a lot of times.. I might not got back to my base with my guys.. I might want to do other stuff.. and then next thing you know I'm in the situation I described above.. I understand how it is supposed to work.. trust me I get it.. I simply do not like it and I think being in a village and having a blacksmith or whatever they can determine when things need to be fixed and should just fix them well before they break. I think it would be a nice QOL feature. Once again in my opinion. As it is.. I just turn down the durability loss to 25% and hope they either implement my idea or give a choice to just turn off the durability.
The option is called "Equipment breaking speed" which means the higher it is the faster it breaks. 25% means it breaks 75% slower.. and 100% means it is standard/vanilla settings. You are free to test it yourself. I have.
I also know I can right click on the map. tamu I know everything you know about this mechanic. I simply like I said DO NOT LIKE IT and I'm allowed to not like it. AND like I said earlier I hope they either do something similar to what I already suggested/what the OP suggested OR simply allow us to disable it fully.
that's it.. there is nothing left to discus. TY
*edit: or rather your conclusion is off
It works as a "if below this threshold %, mark as broken and send to repair". It has nothing to do with the speed at which anything breaks while in use. Meaning if a shield has 100 total durability and you give it to a villager to use in a fight, it will take normal damage per hit and once it reaches 0 its "broken" and goes into their inventory, which will then get taken to a station for repair once they get back.
What the threshold does, is let you set a % that you want your stuff to get repaired at. So if your mark it max 50, then once an item either currently in storage gets grabbed, or an item currently equipped is below 50, it gets marked broken for repair.
Think of it as saying, "hey fighters get geared up but I don't want you going out to battle with gear below 'x' value", or when coming back from battles "hey guys if your stuff is now below 'x' go ahead and have it repaired.
You now may not have to do the last interaction, but I need to test. I noticed a broken shield in my gear barn after releasing a squad but I didnt specifically use either the flag (like I normally do) or order them to interact with that barn before dropping the squad.
*edit: maybe I just missed a broken shield already in storage, it DOES appear you still need to interact with either the flag or directly with a storage for the slider % to go into effect
