Villagers ignoring Storage rules
Anyone know why when i set rules to my storage buildings stockpile/barns/ etc for organisations my villagers are placing items i have turned off in them?

Example: I have made a stockpile for broken tools, and for some reason despite me allowing only those items, my villagers have put hide in it and hemp? What gives?

probably overstock. cant really control the input of hides, so you have to set a limit in storage and let them keep the overstock in the hunter camp. same for hemp. set a limit and let them leave the rest on the field

I have limited the stock but they have some how doubled that. This game is confusing sometimes.

My understanding is for example:

Hemp farm is set to 'Top-up' at 100, my understanding is this means they will gather/collect up to 100 Hemp, ive not touched the Barn stock levels as i thought that if i have set the actual production building to a limit i shouldnt need to do my barn aswell, and said barn is accepting hemp is at default minus me only allowing crops in it and it has 600 space so its not like they cant put it there.

One of my barns is set to take Hemp,Sage Wheat and has 600 spaces in it so i dont understand why they are putting hemp in say a new barn where ive set for tools for example.

Am i understanding this right?

I know this game is EA but its not really explained or doesnt seem to work as intended at times.

I found the same overstock problem too, but it seems to eventually correct itself. One problem it could be is your deliveries and trading, those rules don't seem to be followed by the game itself. Deliveries seem to go to the storage closest to the delivering town/outpost regardless of rules, as long as it is not full. I have watched the workers and they do eventually sort the contents but any overstock will be dumped elsewhere. I have even found stuff dropped on the ground when the limit is reached in storage

I would really like a storage that could be an assigned point for all deliveries. A month or two ago I read, before the last update, that there would be a toggle to allow deliveries but it didn't seem to be included. I would like a stockpile that could be assigned as a clearinghouse for the town.

you can also try toggling your storage settings once. Sometimes that will fix the settings if for some reason they haven't updated. Assignable deliveries has been suggested to the devs.

setting the farm is what they plant, not what they harvest. farm top off at 100 means they are trying to maintain 100 ready to be harvested. storage settings tell them how much to actually harvest

The issue with setting the farm top offs is once it drops below that number they will plant an entire field.. or more.

The AI is too dumb so I plant everything myself manually and then they take care of the rest. The first time I tried to use the top off feature... I had 1100 wheat lol.. and was like.. what? I had it set to 250 top off.. the second it dropped below 250 boom they planted 2 whole fields.

So, yea I just plant my own stuff. Also, I know I could set the top off of storage but that's too much work and then my fields are taking up space with plants just sitting there.

Would be nice if you could control the rows of the farm and set those to top off that way worst case scenario you have 5 plants instead of 20.

1100 wheat in storage or "available". if in storage then you have something wrong with the storage settings. I have 2 wheat fields set to top off at 500. I allow 200 storage for wheat. I never have more than that storage (well maybe like 5-10 more but they cant harvest in single units). In fact all of my crop fields are at 500 so that I never have to wait on them to grow. But my storage limits for most are like 50. never have more than a few over that.

It was in my storage.. because at the time I did not know there was an "allow setting" limit to items.

So you basically have 1 farm for each crop? I only have 2 farms. So if I did what you did I could end up sitting on a field that is full of wheat or whatever other crop and then not be able to grow what I need to at the time.

I have not taken the time to overlook my storage settings.. I could mess with them and possibly make things a bit better/easier. I'll have to take a look.

TY
