Can't recruit my existing companions

I pretty much just started playing this game. I moved my settlement to a different location from the first and pretty much did it the wrong way it seems. All 6 of my companions work in the new settlement and even bring supplies in the stockpiles from the old to the new. But I cannot put them in an army or recruit them. I'll click on "Add Squad" then the plus sign, but nobody gets listed. The only way I've gotten it to work is by going to each companion, pressing F, and then changing their role manually to companion. Is there a fix for this? I've been searching for two days now.

So sounds like you assigned all your villagers to the new outpost/village.

They have to be in your main original village in order to add them to squad.

So what you could do. Is make your old place the new settlement. Switch those buildings to the new settlement and then switch the ones in the new area to your old base.

Not sure if that makes sense.

Thank you Tanyon! That partially solved the problem. I want to clarify that I had already removed most of the "buildings" from the first "main" camp, except for the two remaining stockpiles. I built up the new camp to have all the things from the old camp...and more, then I disassembled the first camp. Through your suggestion, I switched the housing tents to the old (first) camp and I'm able to add everyone to a squad, while they're housing tents remain at the new camp. Does that make sense? Anyway, if this is how it's going to have to work (for now), then so be it. Again, thank you for your suggestion, it worked!

I'm actually about to move my main village.. and have been thinking of the best ways.. and that unfortunately kinda seems like the only way.. so I'm glad it worked because I have not actually tried it yet haha.

The way you could do this is to set your battle buddies as reservists, then on the settlement view you can use Call to Arms to make all reservists your companions, you can then use the switch to do the same for your other settlements.

Yes you can move the buildings and assign the population directly using the outpost assign buttons.
