Any hints on pop morale?
I keep seeing indicators of my recruits going neutral or disgruntled, but I've got no idea why they did, nor how to improve their attitudes. Everyone shares a basic home, there is too much food for everyone, and everyone has work to do.

Does anyone else know what's going on?

Looking at character sheets there is that odd icon partly green-partly grey, but clicking on it does nothing and I don't see any details about what is affecting them now nor what would improve things.

So I'm stuck with a raucous populous.

Depends on what is triggering the morale. If you have more than 3 people from one village, i believe it could trigger a morale penalty. Not sure how far along you are, but you should be able to outweigh the negatives with food and shelter. Later in the game you can build a tavern which helps increase morale as well. If you look in the character details you can see what is affecting their morale, and the causes.

you don't eAt while sleeping so i doubt your people do, everyone plays the same set of rules. im sure some of the guys are going to bed hungry because people want to feed them berries, or potato's and mushrooms
if you keep loading them up with mushrooms and berries they have to restock food during the work day. they are awake 18 hours if they get 3 meals that cover that time they stay busy and happy.
giving better food they like cooked "warm" meals. housing that is at the same level as the town level all give bonuses
. homeless, to many people from the same town, rain, housing lower than the town hall level.
I would think falling in battle would be a negative though I don't n
know if winning or losing fights count for or against moral.

Ah, the "Morale" 'tab' when looking at a villager's character sheet.
Thanks, didn't see that before. I'll have to check what it says when I get another Neutral or Disgruntled notification.

I'm at day 58 - researched all T1 tech and the Town Hall, but haven't built it yet.

So... I have 6 peeps (+ Lobo) from the 1st village, and 4 from another village.

Like I said, everyone has a home (+10) and cooked food (+10), and another +10 I don't recall.

The 4 new ones are missing the -5 Carpetbagger, and instead have a +10 Neighborly, giving them a +40.

Others have +10 +10 +10 -5 = +25

So I'll have to try to catch the notifications/specific statuses to see what drives them negative.

Recruit to many from the same town will lead to the -5 carpetbagger, and they will miss out on the +10 neighbourly. What you can do is create an outpost, and send some over there. More than 4 from the same village will give the -5 for those people.

Tbh, in the end you end up recruit so many people and unless you write down the name of every recruit you take on and what location they came from it get a nightmare to try keep tabs on. Would be nice if a "home town" could be added to their character card.
