Too high level quests too early given.
Is it just me or almost all the quests initially given after going to Bradford requesting gear you can't build yet because you have not advanced far enough. Raw Hides, Sledgehammer, and other things that require you to be further along than you are when you receive the quests. Someone certainly was not paying attention when they laid out these quests in development that is for sure, Hope this gets addressed and fixed in a future update. Oh and now that my gear is all requesting fur, where the hell did all the boar go to?

i notice if your run to the quests you are gettinng in trouble

its a slow progessing game first research al tree 1 development skills en development of your character and companions
(killing bandits patrols and hunting) nice loot and books) this way ill can get save my gold

for spending on skill books i only buy some strenght skill books

My experience is develop your character in skills (archery/strenght/hunting) first

and research a lot makes the game so much easier'

for fighting bandits early use surrroundings lure them to a rock were they cant reach you

and have easy kills (kill archers first) with bow

Best Tip :use quick save always before starting a fight

gotta liberate other towns. get trust up in towns through village building structures like the well village houses and herb garden. i got stuck on trust lock till i realised just build stuff for the town. once you reach protector liberate and get the apprentices you need

Very funny, my skills are actually maxed out from buying books already from looted gold but that is not going to help me produced quest items that I can't unlock yet now is it? Well two handed is stuck at 9/10. I need apprentice people recruited to unlock most of them and that requires I am able to liberate their village level wise. I have not liberated the first one yet because my dumb ass researched bellwright tower when it first showed up instead of maxing out the town first. Now the elder will not even talk about those quests or take coins and fangs either for that matter. only are you here to liberate us? Nope not yet. Trying to get my villagers to read books they keep moving around in the village so I can't find them again. Designated storage for just all the books in the list and they empty it into barns all over the village. They even moved my old coins from the storage designated for them. Lots of weird stupid stuff happening in this game. I was referred to the town to raise it to friend and all the quests are for item I can't make yet so tell me how to get apprentices if they are not unlocked yet? Not strong enough to take out the first village. only 12 villagers and most of them the max in under 6 in their skills. Most are capped at 5. The really good people won't let me recruit them. Quick save before the fight is how I found out I was going to have my ass handed to me trying to liberate Hearndean.

Finding villagers to get them to read books - the easy way:

MAKE SURE YOU GOT THE BOOKS IN YOUR CHAR INVENTORY

1) Press N
2) Click “Population”
3) Click the name of the villager you want to train
4) Click “Attributes”
5) Click the little “+” sign to get them to train the specific attribute.

Saves you the hazzle of running around trying to find them each time :)

I managed to reach friend at the 1st 4 villages (Haerndean, Padslow, Bradford, and Blackridgepool) without using coins or liberating villages for the specialists (I too have the quests I cannot do since I cannot make the items needed like you). I have not done quests at farnsworth yet, so can't say if friend status is possible there prior to recruiting apprentices. Done a little at Horndean and Crasmere and those both look like I will have to have higher tech (and thus apprentices recruited) to get to the point of hitting friend with them. Once at friend you can build village structures to get to protector.

The fact that almost every piece of tier 2 equipment needs raw hide and you need to liberate a town to get access to some (through trade with Bradford or Farnworth to recruit a laborer to be able to make your own) is the more frustrating element. Higher tier bandits can drop it, but it is a low drop rate.
