This going to sound really stupid but what pickaxe will let me start getting iron?

There is an higher tier one in the village hall research list but it calls for iron to make it. Kind of a WTF situation as the simple pickaxe is getting me nothing.

The drop rate for iron is alot lower, and mining yourself is alot lower in chance already, unless you have higher harvesting skill.

Books can help, but as of right now minerals do not re spawn.

Keep an eye out on Nexus for Aiko to release infinite ore nodes mod. They wanted to make such a mod.

There are more nodes, but they are all south on the map. one a little south west quite next to a bandit camp, and two more south near the village in the south east, quite safe there i think. Probably more, but those 3 I know.

As pointed out, you need sturdy pickaxe for that, can be researched with mining camp on T2 research bank. This pickaxe also allow the mining of granite.
