I tried buying some of these seeds and planted them, but they seem to grow to completion without generating more seeds. Is this correct, or is it a bug, or bad luck?

If correct, then these seeds are pretty much worthless since a potato takes forever to grow and does not give much health/stamina.

What is their secret?

I believe that higher farming skills = better chances of seeds as well,

Theres alot of things you cant do in the game, the pitchfork is not even a spear weapon so you cant thrust xD
Also anyone think its weird how we cant make jerky or hardtack for long provision food?

Generally two seeds come from one plant. Your skill can maybe increase a chance for more harvest. You want more than one vegetable because if you have no meat, you need up to three different vegetables to stack for effect when eaten. Maybe the yield and grow time is different for each vegetable so depends on what you need tactics.

The do have Mashed Potatoes in the game as loot, so maybe we can create that dish at level T3

If you need farmers, or beginner farmers, buy books if you can, they will help jump start stats.

Do you or do you not get seeds from vegetables when they have grown to completion? Their description states that you have to buy seeds.

You get seeds, at beginning they dont really offer 1 to 1 ratio(low level farming), so farming skill does help.

the mere fact that potatoes are a thing in this game really raises some questions about the developer doing basic factchecks when creating a game that plays during the middle ages....

cause they didnt know ♥♥♥♥ about a plant called potatoe... this really bugs me more than i care to admit

Some know this. But the game seems to take inspiration from middle ages rather than be based on it. Seeing as the map and world does not exist IRL either.

Yeah I get that ..., but still 🤔 inspiration isn't a good excuse. It's not hard to get the basics right ... Game still makes fun. But yeah...
