Villager equipment
Is there a way to set a villager with a war gear and normal gear setup? I can tell a villager to wear this kind of leather and keep this kind of tools or equipment when they are going about daily function; then when I call them into an army they automatically go to a Equipment cache or armory and change to they appropriate armor and weapons? I have the issue with equipping my people with the types or weapons I want them to use. The people with better archery have bows and quivers, and those that have better one hand or two hand get a specific weapon. When I call them into the army, none of them have the same weapon I have chosen and I have to run to the stockpile and hope they returned it there. What's worse is typically the archers have dropped their bow and quiver and someone has taken it all the way out to the hunters lodge. So while I am trying to get ready for a raid, I am running all over the place trying to find equipment.
Yes, I do have a stockpile that is only supposed to have equipment and all other storage spots have it turned off but I still find where they drop stuff in random stockpiles. For some reason, they always want to store every bow and quiver at the hunting lodge, occasionally I may find one on the actual weapon holder.

I would even be happy with getting an Armory at Tier 2 as a step up from the weapon rack and in that you can setup so many villagers (may need to build multiple armories with more villagers) with the gear you assign them.

no, unfortunately, and one of the more severe game-breaking elements at this stage.

It would be nice if they gave us dedicated tool slots in buildings, and dedicated weapon and tool slots for villagers. That way if woodcutter1 doesnt have an axe slotted in their tool slot, they use the tool from tool slot in the loggercamp1 and return that same tool to the slot when done. If they have the correct tool slotted for their task they use that tool. If they have a different tool type slotted, they move it to their inventoy and not the building inventory. Hell I'd even be happy if they would use their assigned tent's storage to have to drop "personal" equipment if they reach item limit.

I have the same issue. and it's not just with weapons but with armor too. i have put Pathfinder Boots on all 18 villagers and after a little while only a few of them are still wearing them. the others are back to stupid Rugged Boots....so frustrating....☹

With the last update there is an option now that has a strength requirement for armor. Is that possibly turned on? If so that might explain why they are not keeping their boots on. You can turn it off in game options. If that is not on then I'm not sure but I have not personally had an issue with my villagers keeping their clothes on.

I gave some of my villagers weapons in their 2nd slot and a shield in their 3rd, but when it came time for a bandit raid, half of them had no weapons. They weren't in the cache or the weapons rack. They just vanished. This bug is awful, especially in the early stages when it's hard to get a lot of scraps.

so what i do is have set villagers for tasks, if i have an archer i do not let them do anything with 2 handed tools such as shovels, hoes ect. i turn it off in their overview so they never try to pick up a 2 handed tool its not perfect but at some point villagers will just be guards

A: Yes, Build staging ground to unlock Gear presets.

Yes, there are roles, if you want the character to be an archer, then give him the archer role through the "Flag", which can be built. In the same way, you can make a vanguard with a two-handed or an infantryman with a shield, everything is configured there.

Just to add to this, you can add and modify templates for whatever role in your army/village you would prefer.

all of the things you are asking about are possible. once the staging ground is researched.
Not sure if you have to build the structure or not.

You can custom build worker and Guard/Companion

hit N go to population
click one of your followers
below the picture are your options
personally I set up my Guard/companion by STR.
click the black box below it/ probably says footman
Do the edit option
when you click that it will take you to a new menu
you want to make and name a "new Preset"
From that you can set up anything you want
You can have an Archer preset a fighter preset and/or
do it by str. or make it generalized with highest str item in number 1 priority and work your way through the lower str. items
I have a barn set up for time management reasons that has my Best foods and all the armor being used.
this means I call to arms click my one building and start walking towards the fight as everyone loads up they will follow you.
if you don't set up a barn for this your people will get weapons and armor from anywhere in the camp. and it will be the best available that they can wield. via priorities you set. They wont grab food unless you tell them to.

you can do the same with worker settings: but worker clothes don't give any buff's just don't apply penalties. and leave you vulnerable to animals and wandering Bandits/

NONE is also an option
