Damage types
What weapon types would be prefered versus the armored brigands and bandits?

For what I can tell, we have slashing, piercing and blunt damage, but I can’t seem to find any information regarding what the different types are good/bad against.

+1, I've been wondering as well. In my experience, I used the spiked club, warhammer and mace in early stage, for cost effiency and they seemed to be effective against armor. Now I use short swords, but I'm not sure that it's better. I think blunt damage ignores some armor by the way i see the damage effectiveness in combat. They should clarify this as soon as possible.

Agreed. I do find that blunt is slightly more consistent vs the higher level bandits and brigands.

Clarification from the Devs would be good.

But by pure logic and realism, swords should become near useless when the enemy wears chainmail or even plate armor.
Arrows too. That you can kill someone with bow and arrow easily thats covered in full plate is a myth. on Agincourt very few french knights were killed by a direct arrow hit. they died from the fall when their horses got shot or fell prey to the english men waiting for them when the french knights survived that fall.
No, fighting enemies in plate is done by blunt trauma or having can openers: the spikes on Warhammers and Halberds.

But than again, its a game. While you can feel here and there that the Devs have realism in mind (like overhunting, deforestation, etc.) other things still are game trope. otherwise bows would require strength and swords agility as a requirement to use them.

^This. You would hope that the devs have gone with this logic. I would imagine that anyone who makes a game like this has to do some research and this pretty is basic knowledge (no insult meant to the poster). When you look at some of the stuff in the game they must have done some research and its hard to read about armour in the medieval period without finding this stuff out.

I’ve done some testing, and it does seem that blunt weapons do more damage against heavily armored enemies, while slash/piercing weapons do damage against unarmored.

Could be a stroke of luck though. Crits, etc.

No insult taken :) I am aware of blunt trauma vs slashing and piercing on medieval armor :) which is why I asked the question in the first place. I see a lot of weapons in the game, focusing on piercing and slashing - yet most of the enemies are highly armored. Which is why, despite my love for bastard swords and such, I am going the blunt way for now.

It should be the way it works. If they didnt intend for it to work that way then you would have thought it was pointless having the different damage types.
