Pre- "Incoming Raid" ...Help
Time is going by too fast. I can't get us ready in time. How do u guys survive these raids? I did move one housing tent closer to my personal tent. That'll help. I put up fencing around my camp chests. But did too good a job and now my villagers can't get in. I took a section out but what's the use... not enough time to build another. Can't round them all up, feed them fast enough and check to c where their weapons and shields went. If I round them all up too soon, they just eat all the food I gave them b4 the attackers get there and just walk away. It's rough out there. lol

You can change to easy instead of medium, which I did. Medium was to much for me. You can also completely stop those raids if you want.

those raids are actually a good farming oppertunity. There is no need to defend everyone as NPC's simply respawn and you can just climb on astockpile or other building and shoot them from that secure position.

I disabled raids because they get very annoying the longer you have to deal with them. You don't know when a raid will exactly come and your people suck until you can give them some decent equipment. You have to babysit the village and this every 3 days. When you get to liberation you also get raids and reclamation sometimes at the same time.

I intend to enable raids again when I get some decent T2 equipment for my guards so they can fend off a raid without me

I try to keep in mind that this is still early access. But I hate to loose. I let them come to mostly get the scraps. This is the first game ever I've played that "food" determines who wins. Not sure what the devs' angle is here. To be different from the rest? Ok, u r definitely going about raiding in a different way. I'm looking at the broader picture here...when full game releases. I can see myself giving up. I don't mind a challenge but some of this is just too much.

Well fed people work harder and fight harder.
When it is Raid Day you can expect the raid to come around 14.00-15.00. Around the time you lose your sleeping-bonus.

Early raids need 2-3 villagers equiped with simple axe and wooden shield to defeat.
Get your wooden shields distributed - I do a drill on raid day in the morning to see how everyone is doing. Giving them 3 types of food also helps your villagers!

I kind of like the food mechanics.

put all your melee weapons and shields in 1 chest. when you form a squad of your villagers, use the E command and move the flag onto the chest (the text should change from 'go to position' to 'interact with warehouse'). They will equip melee weapons and shields from there. Doesnt deal with food, and they will not equip 2 hand weapons or bows unless those are the last items in the chest (2 handed over bows too).

what i do with raids is going naked with 90 arrows and just shooting them down all
u will be way faster than them and make sure u save before the fight and u will succedd

Shields are really useful, those wooden plank shields were a game changer for me and my villagers, reinforced club should not take too long to research and hits hard, especially early on.

I toggle raids off when trying to expand or do other logistical stuff. I toggle them back on when I've nothing else to do aside from running around doing tasks.

As others have pointed out, raids are fantastic farming opportunities especially for straps, which you'll need a fair bit of for early game research and some equipment. Just keep them toggled off until you feel prepared to deal with them.

All very good and sound advice. Yup, I gotta re-direct my attention and strategies. Weight of my gear may indeed be a problem for me. I'm pretty much going Ranger with bow. Too bad u can't move backwards faster. I could nail them real good then. But that turn-around to run away and then turn again to shoot... now that's a skill. And, I have tried that E command on food and weapons and even saw the interact...but they came back with nothing. Was too late then.
