Hunters camp broken, or just bad luck?
My first outpost is a hunting camp.
Found a spot with 6 wolf spawns very close. Also has 3 deer and 3 boars all within spitting distance. As a bonus... copper is also there. For future expansion.

Now, after 5 days of having the camp set up, the 2 hunters have used up 10 (!) stacks of arrows. TEN!
The grand total of delivered hides, furs and pelts is ZERO.
The grand total of delivered meat is ZERO.

They did deliver some copper and tin that was laying on the ground,...

Now there are two issues:
1. There is SOME hide (4) and meat (3) in the storage, but it does not get delivered (yes, I do have a daily delivery set up for it)
2. 300 arrows for what ammounts to a single deer kill in the best animal spot I could find in 50 hours seems... a little out of line? The hunters have 6 skill in both archery and hunting as well.

Now, they clearly used up all the arrows. 10 Stacks is 300 shots.

So, am I doing something wrong? Is the building just useless? This clearly does not work as expected! ;-)

I am not sure about the outpost part in this (but double check the delivery setup, because you need to set it up in the town you want the goods to be received, and the little drop down is the outpost that delivers).

Regarding Hunters, make sure that you have setup in the hunting lodge what is supposed to be hunted with priority, check the building priority, check if the dudes are set to hunting with priority, and if they are able to use a bow.

I do not have my hunting hut as an outpost, it's in walking distance of my city. I drown in meat, furs and trophies. So it's definitly working, but maybe something is missing in your setup / priorities

Again: They did waste all 300 arrows on something. They just never returned with anything apparently,... so they do hunt.

Have they harvesting and delivery priorities ? Not sure if really needed, Havesting probably yes since they collected a few rocks, but it might need delivery too.. Not sure though.

Sure. They need some food after all. Told them to keep a stock of 20 berries and mushrooms, which they do flawlessly. I never see them actually hunt tho,... even tho the arrows vanish if I am out exploring. And the hut is set to hunt for all but rabits in a 300m radius. Whatever 300m means, no idea how I would tell... id say there are 8 animals in spitting distance. But if the game calls that 10m or 100m, no idea. ;-)

Some animals TOUCH the building, so it certainly is not out of a 300m range.
The building also does not give me an error (it did, before I added quivers, so I am sure it would tell me if something else would be amiss)

this might sound like a really stupid question but do they have their bows equipped? I've seen my hunters running around with a quiver and arrows but no bow. They would just dump their bows into barns or weapon racks
Tech Enthusiast May 8, 2024 @ 1:13am
They do use their bows to shot all of the 300 arrows, yes.
Edit: And they do not have any other 2h task asigned to them, OR even any 2h weapons / tools that they could grab and replace the bows with. They have no other option but the bow.

well, the only thing that I can now think of is the following if they have any sort of bag or a seed pouch. Try moving those bags into your own inventory. Sometimes a whole lot of random stuff "is hidden" in their bags. Maybe you'll find your arrows there...

i just witnessed my hunter(archery 6) from the hunter camp that was trying to shot down a deer but she was shooting the sky! lol
Now i know where my arrows go but I actually had and have even recently good income of food and hide from that hunting camp. some days better than others but i even got stag horns and such so they must have killed quite a few deer for sure! im confused tbh

It's really strange. Like I said, I have mine placed randomly and it drowns me with food, so technically it should work for you too. I do not actually observe them though, i wouldn't even suspect that they really run around actually hunting, or just keep the immersion (hence shooting in the air as bad animation), while the loot is RNG based and just being generated in the background. You might try a different location for more luck.

Still one more question just to be sure : Inside the hunting lodge you can also set priorities for each animal type... Is it set to raven priority since she is shooting in the air ? Try playing with these values are bit. I had mine hunt for rabits and deer. Since i added ravens, they hardly bring any feathers and at least ravens are hunted easier and faster by mself.

It's bugged for sure. Arrows disappear after one hunt. Hunter goes kills a deer then redeposits everything back but the arrows are gone. He also seem to ignore what to hunt - I only have deer and rabbits checked and nothing else, yet he charges into a pack of wolves and gets killed.

It all depends on your Hunters Bow skills my friend

They still need archery skills to be any good at it. Some one was just posting today their high schill archer killed a boar before it even charged the hunter, and it was archery skill 4. Hunting is for collecting the meat but need still need archery to be good with the bow.

It is not. If you actually babysit him, you can see he uses 2 arrows per deer. If I take his arrows before he makes to the camp, and then re-add them, he continues hunting. if not, he puts everything back and the arrows are gone.

At least you can't get scammed on your hires.. If their skills have increased, you at least can replace them with settlers of a higher skill level later on. I like how your slaves.. oops.. I mean settlers increase in value along with their skills, and your level of gameplay.
