People also review games based on how complete it is... as an EA title. At the very least, people have a hard time grasping what early access is. Someone literally started their review with "another unfinished game".
100%. People did this with Diablo 4. The game was on Battlenet for like 4 months before it was released on steam. As soon as it was released on steam, people left reviews about the microtransactions, etc. Nothing to do with the actual gameplay. The entire review was based on things that were already known, but they waited for the steam release to, again misuse the review system, and use it to soap box their stance on the business end of the game. Again... which he already knew. Because the game was out for 4 months.
This here is the reason devs nowadays abandon games. Because they know they have a 'soft' consumer base who are happy to be pumped.
This is what literally is known as a cash grab. I have extremely low expectations for this game, specially more now that the Coop is not even 10 players at least its 4-player Coop.
I am super disappointed.
I don't get saying Bellwright is a bad game based on what happened with Lost Oasis. You can say whatever you want about the developer/publisher but the game has nothing to do with that.
It's too early to be impressed or disappointed with Bellwright, have to wait and see. So far it seems fine. I've played pretty much every game in or around this genre when it first hit steam. I think folks forget how much of an absolute ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Ark was it's first month, , or how minimal Green Hell or The Forest was for quite a while. Given its price point I'd put Bellwright in the top 1/3rd of the pack for how far along it is at EA release. Where it finishes is yet to be seen. and I doubt it will pass games like The Forest, Green Hell, Subnautica, Ark etc for final quality but it's got a head start over others that started in worse shape (Stranded Deep, Escape the Pacific etc) and should easily end up worth its current price.
It’s stated in the games description, it’s only temporary until they get real voice actors later in development
If you get 10 hrs of fun out of a $25 game you got your money's worth. I have 40+ hours in Last Oasis that people keep complaining about. That's more than the cost of entry. People need a reality check on expectation vs. reality.
