The game has a dynamic 3rd person camera, so you're in 3rd person unless you're indoors in which it zooms in to first person view.
I don't understand why both aren't an automatic choice for games like Bellwright and the genre. Even if they adapt the existing indoor camera (just make sure the sway is removed! It's like being a drunk pirate out on a boat in stormy seas!)
I was curious as to what percentage of gamers prefer 1PV vs 3PV (even though it depends heavily on the type of game), and while It didn't answer my question, I still found this interesting:
