Which Food do the Villagers eat?

I think they are a bit picky. I will eat everything, say, raw berries, raw mushrooms, potatoes, beetroot, radish, onions - but the villagers seem to rely on only baked/smoked goods. They even will dump the potatoes or onions i give them back to the Barn/Stockpile...
Is this intended?

there probably full if all 3 slots are filled with food they wont hold onto other things you might be able to stop it by turning food storage off on all containers but then your gonna get there inventories clogged with random food
