I think the smoker should have selective priorities for the different food we can smoke...

The problem we are having is that we can barely use mushrooms in other recipes because they get smoked right away before any other food, even in cauldrons. :(

You're not wrong, but if you are using a cauldron, you likely shouldn't be using the smoker anymore.

Both the campfire and smoker should have management options

I think they dont have that because they are not intended to be used long term.

Camp Fire is obsolete as soon you get the smoker, ( except you need specifically cooked food for a quest)

and the smoker is kind of in the way for the cooking pot. since all the food will get put in the smoker once the pots are cooking...

so i am running multiple pot, and have the smoker as back up (on disabled priority) that i can fire up manually, mostly i will put almost rotten meat on the smoker since it prevent food from spoiling that way.

Agreed. If i can build it, touch it and interact with it, so should I be able to assign a worker.

So you disable the priority on the smoker and use it like back up? Umm I guess that't a workaround, those smokers are too easy to use by the npc hence they fill up very fast, cooking a soup takes a bit more picking up ingredients first, I wish the water and the herbs would be stored in the cellar so the process could be a bit quicker, tbh.

Yeah.. I rarely get my prio mushroom stew from the cauldron.. they always go absolutely ham on the smoked mushrooms.. and what I feel is missing from the game - to stop bottlenecking.. is a setting to "collect no more than X" or you just end up with hundreds of smoked mushrooms.. hundreds of flax.. and hundreds of wheat.. that you need for straw/thatch.. but cannot utilize for food until tier 3.. because apparently bread making is a major Karvenian science discovery.. ;) And even cotton.. that I didn´t really need.. but apparently a seed got in my storage somehow and they just rolled with it until I better learned to set prios or turning off certain types for crops for the farms.

I now have 4 barns.. and 5 stockpiles.. and I am fighting a losing battle to contain the bloat.

I use my smoker until I have about 150 smoked mushrooms, and then I turn it off. It's intended to be a winter backup food for if and when I run out of other things.

With that said, please please please Devs give us the option to manage at least the smoker if not the smoker and campfire.

Ok I deleted the smoker, after having 200+ smoked mushrooms, now I have another issue with the foraging hut, it's basically doing the same thing but I have no control over it, I can't turn it off, without stopping foraging of other items too, right?

the issue is that at T3 you get building "Inn" you have 2 smokers and 2 cauldrons as part of the building. You cannot change the priority on the smokers.

dang, I guess we are stuck having to throw away smoked mushrooms from our ridiculously small food cellars :(
starman01 May 5, 2024 @ 11:59pm
Maybe it's meant as a source for fertilizer :) At least there is some use for burnt food. Problem is more, that the cook (i do not have T3 yet, just the outside cooking stations) seems to prefer burning up mushrooms than making stew.

I totally agree, we barely have mushroom soup but we have tons of smoked, burnt mushrooms. :(
