unable to get progress in farming perk

i seem to be unable to get XP in the farming perk. i plant, water, plug weeds and harvest though i am constantly staying at the same XP amount. i am playing in multiplayer and am not the host. maybe there is an issue in multiplayer for connecting players it seems?

Actually farming skill is one of the easiest. The EXP go to the person planting the seeds, as soon as the crops are taken from the field, no matter who else works on it. ;)

NPC workers will even till the field before going to grab a seed, giving you time to just plant.

Begin with Grains then until Lvl 3 and switch after that

And if you look for wheat, go to the windmill located south to Padstow

i think you guys dont understand. i am planting, watering etc and finally harvesting on the farm and i get 0 XP for any action tied to that, henceforth i can't progress the way you guys say. seems to be a multiplayer problem as i am not the host.

As i said before all EXP goes to the one person that plants the seed. No EXP is gained in all the work. Works in MP as well as solo, that way.

and as i said i planted them, so i should get them, right? nope. i dont. i singlehandedly managed the field without the help of any other player or npcs. still no exp

Sounds weird but, do you have the game set to a language other than English? If so, set it to English for one cycle of planting through harvesting. There might be a disconnect in the translation and the game isn't recognizing what's being harvested to what was planted.
