As fast as they are patching this game, I'd hold off on Mods, but that's just my opinion. Patches could easily cause problems when using mods.

You're right, of course.

Those with a fast internet and ssd could still try out mods on new saves and then just delete and redownload the game if/when they face any issues. And carry on with their vanilla save.

Edit to add:
I wonder if there is a way to disable updates and still start the game?

Heres what I can share. I asked one of the modders how often the mods would break and was told they would only really break if theres an update specifically affecting the thing, the mod works for.

I Personally am playing with inventory expansion, Housing Expansion, Storage Building Expansion and Quivers Expanded at the moment. The mods themselves have survived the latest patch without breaking.

Am considering the new Better Villagers one.

Am not crashing while using the mods and it doesnt seem to break the npcs either.

I do have a buddy runnin a multiplayer game. I can join his multiplayer game despite having mods in my game and it seems I then see his inventories being increased but he himself still sees vanilla. I Have not tried storing things beyond the threshhold as we are trying to keep our multiplayer game as vanilla as possible so I copy out the mods when im playing on his server.

The mods themselves come in pak files and are extremely easy to control. :-)

Hope that answers alot.

Edit: Also the modders themselves currently making mods are extremely friendly and seem very intelligent and communicative. Can very much recommend using the nexus forums under the desired mod to communicate with them. :-)

Great information. So you can just take the mods out if an update breaks them? Simple as that?

I was recommended to make sure to have backup saves just in case but so far yes. It has been that easy. :-)

Yup, I backed up my save before going into modding. It's early access anyway, so saves may break or lose content even if you play vanilla.

Sadly not out yet :P Granted I am looking forward to a planting system.

Also cant wait for animal management.

But what I most am looking forward to is the release of actual modding tools. From what im hearing, they are going to be able to make some absolutely wild crazy things in this game.
Feels like the early days of Starfield where only little quality of life mods have been made. I use the bigger bag mod and the ... build the fast travel sign post everywhere, veeeeeeeeeeery great help for now

Anyone found a way to stay on the same Bellwright version and be able to play the game? I have disabled Bellwright updates in Steam, but when I launch from the .exe in Bellwright folder, it gives me an error that Steam overlay is missing and then crashes.

Mods work fine if I play from Steam play button, though.
How do you even disable updates at all? Thats new to me that this is a thing

Amazingly there are no anime girl or nude mods yet, those are usually day one releases on nexus.

Personally I'd like to see a low fantasy mod that adds some non human enemies for raids and special events and the like.

Right click on a game and its in properties, just note that these days you cant launch a game through steam without it updating even if its disabled, you have to launch it directly from the folder.
But ... how? I mean, i only see the normal option, the high priority option or only when you launch the game.
But if you choose the later, you cant really launch it via steam which means you would have to apply some kind of crack >.<

The launch the game one. Don't launch it through steam and it doesn't update.

This does not work. I tried launching it, while having steam open, from the .exe in the Bellwright folder. You get to the main menu, then it says it could not find steam overlay and crashes.

We need a way to launch the game without updating it.
