I just want a way to tell my farmers never to seed unless they've fertilized first.

On mixed farms I dissable everything, the farmer will prepare the farm without soing enything. Then I chose were I want witch seed to grow. From This Point the Farmer will manage the Farm on its own. A litte bit Laborintensiv for me but better than getting to mutch from one item.
But this way your farmer will NOT level! only the person sowing will get the XP at full grow. So I have more filds with only weed ore cotten to manage from my farmen themselfe.

Real estate limitations notwithstanding, farms are free to build so you could, relatively easily, have one for each crop. My main issue with farming is storage, as I end up with hundreds of crops taking up all the space.

Set storage limits in your boxes / barns / etc. If you set a limit of say 50 wheat in the only storage that accepts it they will leave the rest on the field. then you set up multiple farms or micro manage them as stated above.
For the example of wheat though you will need to set limits on straw and grain as well.
That said it NEEDS to be more granular in how you can manage them.

Lol, farms are cheap to build, just have several of them with things you need on each and set storage limits. They simply fill up your limits and let the rest be in the farm and will return only to refill your quotes if something will be used up. Works for me.

have a bug where my villagers are just ignoring the limit on my barn for hemp and just filling it regardless with hemp -.-

also get one every now and then where i have to reload cuz my villager gets hungry and just stand there, instead of going and getting food. cant inspect them to give them food either >.<

We need to be able to plot out exactly what gets grown in each spot. Medieval dynasty has this, and it makes it so much easier to maintain a stock of each resource. As is, its just entirely random. You almost need to just build 5-10 farms and devote each to a specific resource.
