Delivering tools
Maybe I'm missing something here, but I've been trying to set it up to where my outposts send their damaged tools back to my settlement for repair, and send replacement tools from my settlement. But it isnt really working..

Yep was about to post about this. It’s a complete pain in the a. Have to keep running to outpost to swap over picks.

I noticed there’s two in the delivery list. I suspect one is broken one not but either way it never works. Driving me nuts.
Would love to know if anyone has found a solution to this short of manually taking tools

I'm not sure if what I did was correct or not, but I've actually noticed that when I marked picks and axes as "Top Up" option and set it at 2 they've always broken tools and brought them back. Repaired and shipped the spares to the logging camps and mines. Maybe that's the key? I'm not exactly certain, but they seem to do it autonomously since I marked that in my crafting bench.

Edit; don't do the top up option, as they have a lot of picks in the mines lol. I don't know why but my villagers always repair their broken stuff

Man if you can work out how please let us know.

Or if anyone else has a means of automating this

Yeah what seems to be happening to me is I set the number of tools to be sent to say 1 or 2 and the same for the ones to be sent back. This lines up with the rate theyre being broken so in theory they should: send back broken tools> recieve new ones> broken tools get repaired and ready to be sent out again. Instead new tools dont seem to ever get sent back even though I have many in storage so my outposts just end up without tools. But I think deliveries themselves are just borked rn as I've noticed sometimes it sends the right amounts and other times it doesnt.

another way is to build workstation and put enough material so village can repair tools themselves

So a guy on reddit said - of the two tools in the list, the second one is the broken tool.

so in theory when you see this:
simple pick
simple pick

You can setup a delivery for the second one to send back a broken one -

Why not automate sending material required to repair directly to the mining camp so they can repair stuff there?

I have exactly the same problem. All my tools, clothes and gear are double in the list. Only resources and food are unique and the delivery works for resources and food. I guess the delivery process does not understand when it is double in the list. And I have tried both in the list, none works.

It's not overly feasible with straps - I mean it is, but it's a fairly heavy requirement. I'd rather they send the tool back and it gets repaired at the main base so i have an easier time checking strap stock etc.

Personally I'd like to see them remove the strap component from picks given they're a t1 tool.

Or you just manually take straps to them like 2-3 straps will last one miner about a week almost lol. You can even do once a week shipments of 2 straps to the mining camp...

Best way I have seen to do the straps, is to send them like 1 or 2 a day, and have it set up to send them all back to the main settlement each week. This will more or less "reset" the amount of straps that they keep in stock.

is there an order in the delivery, e.g. all sent to home first then send to outpost?
e.g.,

send 2X from outpost to base
send X from base to outpost?

will I get finally X stuff at the outpost, or nothing at all?

Im not 100% sure what you mean by that- but you can setup two seperate deliveries that'll work at the same time.

Remember this (and this is key) you're not SENDING, you're recieving.

So i've set:

Delivery at my base: recieve 1 x pick, daily (this is the second pick of the two in the list so hopefully broken)

Then

Delivery to my outpost: 1 x pick daily FROM main base.

I did this just before and it solved the broken tool problem, im not sure if it successfully sent the broken tool back though.
they should replace broken tools with names such as "Broken Simple Axe" for a destroyed Simple Axe etc.
