Remove stumps?
Is there a way to remove stumps that are left after cutting down a tree? They don't register as stumps so shovel doesn't work on them. Do they turn into removable stumps after a while or is there some other way?

Shovels, but its super expensive (wear and tear on the shovel and you only get 3 wood per stump).

Oh, and some are too big.

Thanks for the reply, but I specifically stated shovels do not work, there isn't even an interact prompt on stumps that are left after the player cuts down a tree. Shovels only work for stumps that were already there. So is there another way?

Found the answer I think, it seems like player-made stumps just disappear on their own after a while.
Vecardi May 1, 2024 @ 2:27pm
Yes they do, Faerlynn. :)

Well you also said after cutting down tree's, on those you require a shovel to dig them out. This also goes for stumps that have spawned in as stumps.
I did not know that you could have player-made stumps though..

So when you asked any way to get rid of stumps after cutting down tree's, the first reply was right, you require a shovel to do that. I am surrounded by stumps of tree's i have cut down and been left with those stumps (they do not dissapear after a while), finally got a shovel and i have been able to remove them, did not do all as right now i have wood and ones aint interfering with me at the moment

Not sure if your game is bugged or what, but after you cut down a tree you can sit there for the rest of the day trying to hit the stump with a shovel and it will not remove it. There is no "you must use a tool on this" option available period. You must have been digging out the stumps that were not left from cutting down trees.

I've tested trying to dig up tree stumps left from cutting down a tree multiple times, they don't break and can't be dug up.

you have to wait for the stump to change, if it looks clean cut you cant remove it yet. When it looks like a broken twig stump then you can.

They don't change appearance though...

Can confirm that player made stumps disappear. I just cleared a tree to build the Tool building and the stump was gone in the morning 2 in-game days later. The timing is unclear, as a nearby stump resulting from a tree I cut down at around the same time is still there.

Also, thank you Faerlynn for the post and Vecardi for the reply that caused me to check for the stump each in-game day.

The stump I was checking in my previous comment did not change appearance and I did not need a shovel to clear it. It simply disappeared.

Yes they do simply disappear on their own, but that's not the point I was trying to get at lol.

I was replying to a previous comment that was saying that "I am surrounded by stumps of tree's i have cut down and been left with those stumps (they do not dissapear after a while), finally got a shovel and i have been able to remove them" which is just false. You can't dig up stumps that were left behind from chopping a tree down. The only way to get the stumps from chopped down trees to disappear is to wait it out and they'll go away on their own like you said.

Speaking of tree's what is the actual use of the woodcutters axe? This seems to only cut tree's down that i could already cut down with the small axe. It takes 7 hits with the small axe, 8 to cut the tree when on ground, same with the woodcutters axe as well. Young trees give 3 wood with small axe and 3 with woodcutters axe.
A'lot of tree's say need a better tool, so for me i am seeing the woodcutters axe as a complete waste of space, seems to only do what the small 1 handed axe can do for the same hits and same resources but cost ingot to repair, instead of a stone.

Oh i never tried digging a stump after immediatly chopping the tree down, it was a day or so later, usually when i had to clear that space for a building, i just knew it was a tree i had cut down myself. So the stump changes seems plausible but 3 wood, should give a log as well at least.

Woodcutters axe is a 2 handed weapon, but can be used to cut down trees.

And the stumps from a cut down tree don't change into one that you can dig up later with a shovel, it just doesn't work like that. The stumps disappear after some time, not change forms to a dig-able one lol.

Well, I still have a couple of stumps in the middle of my village since I cut them down on day 1 or 2. And I'm on day 278 lol. So it seems that not all trees' stumps disappear. Or they might be bugged.

Yes, these residual tree stumps actually do block construction.
They are a real pain in the game. We need to be able to get rid of them somehow.
