thats what i am trying at the moment....
its probably simily to how wolves and boars spawn.... if you overhunt an area respawn is punishing.... or mabe it diminishes with building density... rabbit are shy, a busy camp might spook them ;)
also rabbit might only be a viable food source early game and you have to come up with farmwork and manual hunting
Dont know, two winters in a row, allways catching them still.
I still have it no mater what.
Normally a trap break after X catch.
then, if you have an hunter they will replace the trap. Taking into consideration you have some in storage.
Problem of the bug is (if you have this bug)...
Trap wont break visually. But they will stop catching rabbit.
Since it's not broken visually, Your hunter won't replace what they think isn't broken. But it actually is broken, since it's no longer catching rabbit.
To fix this, just remove and replace the trap at the very same exact place and they will start to work again. until the bug happen again.
Bad thing is you have to micro manage your trap by manually replacing it when you start to notice no more meat is catch. Very annoying.
Good thing, you will never need trap again, cause when you pick them back up and replace them, it look like its resetting it's durability and the bait will be on the ground where the trap was.
This bug happened to me after day 2 patch and ever since.
Tried to craft new trap and still the same.
I first thought this is a bug, as my traps are acting exactly like you said. However, even though I manually disassembled & relocated them it was not fixed.
Since all of the traps were placed right next to my village(I made my village right in the middle of the forest.), I think there are some logic with the location of the traps.
I’ve tried moving them. Reducing how many. Rebuilding. Changing locations. Setting priorities etc
They all seem to work for a time or two then bug out and remain in a perma baited state.
Strange cause mine work, but not as long as I would like 2 or 2 catch.
Kinda have to reset them each day or so.
I'll try and move them farther. Altho, I find them pretty far already.
But I'll give it a try see if I get more luck and that they actually start to break for real.
Found out it is not a bug but a intended feature. The traps works fine if you put it on areas that still have some trees standing.
Yeah, it officialy started. Removing mechanics to make it "easier" for less management capable players. This tends to not end well in the end. Removing chalenge so that some can mass catch rabbits without need to go out... Lol. Well, it had bugs, but the simplest solution was to have more of them, dedicate a hunter and not rush overpopulation when you dont have essentials secured. What will be next, hmmm... deer will start to ignore player, be incapable of running, or move just five steps if hit, bird feathers will become world collectable and fish can be found while walking along water areas... 😆. I get that some players really need this, but would be nice if such things would be allowed to be optional and not removed for everyone.
I still think it was bugged as my traps are all under trees and away from any buildings.
Only explanation would be a radius around buildings which becomes a no go zone. If so there needs to be an indicator.
It’s not a difficulty factor if the game doesn’t help to inform otherwise.
Will see if my traps in the same place start producing. My money is on them not.
