if you didnt know, theres also a Quick load button in PC-gaming for decades. As F5/F6 is for saving, there can be F8/F9 for quick load.
(dont know if this game have it, didnt play it, i was just amused and surprised that an threat about F5 like this exist, especially if OP is in the Steamfamily since a Decade himself lol.)

It's been F5 since the 80's. Any game that has it will be that key. Usually F7 is for quick load. Again, since the 80's.
