Raiding mechanic
I have to say this raiding mechanic is really starting to put me off.

i'm trying to slowly grow so all my npcs are equipped to deal with the occasional raids.

turns out thats stupid? because the raids just auto tier up after each failed raid?

the game also tells you the raids come faster and tier up faster the more you build, so you are punished for building too fast, and punished for building too slow?

does taking out bandit camps slow down the raids? Cause otherwise i'm probably going to have to stop playing soon because i can't defend the next raid i'll get without taking loses.

Think in tier 1 they just come at the start of winter. I just did quests an recruited 5 other followers an armed them with spike clubs. Plus the hunter U get from starter quest. I'm still tier 1 tech level, raid level is 10 Atm but still killing them. Just make sure to buff with food before the fight.

how do i get food then? i'm struggling to feed 3 people and myself.

the farm seems completely terrible for food without giving seeds back on harvest, and i don't have any seeds for food items anyways.

i've completely over foraged the area, and at the rate it comes back i run out of food right as winter breaks. so my npcs are just about to start starving when we can finally get food again.

heck the only reason we ever have food to last that long is i at least once a week have to go forage a inventory full of mushrooms from a distant patch so i don't effect the foraging.

also my bandit day is 5 days before winter.

Hmm something is missing there man, I’ve got literally 350 smoked mushrooms in my stockpile right now with 8 followers. Been a steady 150ish since I made a smoker.

Are you using top up orders on the forage camp? Using traps? I think traps are bugged though they definitely stop working after a while.

In the early days (I’m day 41 now) I used to grab food when I was roaming but the villagers are completely see sufficient with this for me using the above.

btw how do raids scale ? just with time (every raid harder) or does the area level have any impact ?
will i see fully armored raiders in the starting area given enough time ?

asking for helping me to choose base location (better enemies = better loot)

You can turn the raids off. I've been debating on it back and forth.

after every raid they gain a level. which so far has been giving them better gear, and more numbers. even if its the same tier area.

the traps are sadly useless, because the npcs dump the food into the trappers hut, so unless i micro it and move the food out of the trappers hut myself it just spoils in there, and thats if they bother to go get it at a decent rate.

the foragers hut has the same problem but they tend to be slightly better about moving it.

but yes i am using top up orders that are almost never met because they've cleaned out the area.

didn't know that, i'm probably going to have to for a short while. it scales way too quickly.

Also holy ♥♥♥♥ how do i turn off my npc dumping their combat equipment? i fully outfitted them, just to turn around like 2 days later and see all their shields and bows in storage clogging up the stockpile.

Traps need to be spread out and away from areas of traffic. Best thing to do is get a forager hut and smoking rack, I can’t get rid quick enough.,,.

i don't see how any of this fixes my problems?

i have a trapper hut, with traps that do bring in meat, but the meat never gets moved out of the trappers hut, so i should move the traps further away?

and my forager hut isnt bringing any food, and a portion of what it brings in also spoils in its inventory cause it doesnt get moved out fast enough.

i do have a smoker, but it honestly feels worse than a campfire the npcs cook on it significantly less, where as they'd used the campfire first chance they got.

Change the priority of your workers. It sounds like they are prioritising other work. Ideally one villager per task as a priority 1.

i have the forager hut set to 1 and the trappers hut set to 3 with only the farm between them.

i think a big problem is people are doing the jobs, they just aren't transporting the ♥♥♥♥ to the stockpile, so other jobs can be done with it. but i've found no transportation job.

Transportation is "Delivery". Hit "N" and click on "Population". You can set your priorities for each villager there.

Traps aren’t that efficient to be honest, and you get more hunting. For 8 traps I’m getting 2-3 small meat a day. Better to hunt a deer or boar and get than in a single kill (plus the chance of the ingredients for a trophy).
