Does anyone know what Tool I need to use to mine Granite?

Title says it all - I have tried pickaxes, sledgehammers, axes, swords but always says it is the wrong tool!

Same. Tried tier 2 pick with no luck.

where do you even get the sledgehammer i need 2 for a bradford quest but cant get my hands on them

Tier 2 Pick it take a while to gather this on your own

Umm. That quest asks for 2 tier 2 pickaxe and 2 sledge hammer. What is it calling a sledgehammer in the game because I see no item named sledgehammer?

You can mine it with the tier 2 pickaxe. If you aren't getting any you are mining the wrong rock.

There is sledgehammer, it look like wooden hammer but more like iron looking and big. I think your apprentice blacksmith can search it, not so sure but It belong to weapon category. I just search mine after I got my apprentice blacksmith.

As for mining Granite, the sturdy pickaxe does it well enough.

I gathered 21 off a tiny rock spot near my town location in under 15 minutes of mining. More granite than stone collected.

lol it take raw hide to craft -- which you need to liberate bradford to get - quests /progression are azz backwards in this game
