Help needed with resource management
I currently have 4 villagers, about to get a fifth. I have a logging camp, a foraging camp, a mining site, a trapper camp, a farm and 2 stockpiles.

I am having several issues with resource management and hope you guys can help.

1) Sometimes the logging stops working, and I dont know why. There are still trees near the camp anf axes available, but no one wants to chop them. Whys that? I moved the camp a bit, and they resumed chopping.
This really makes it hard to automate stuff.

2) Traps seem to stop working after a day or two and no longer catch animals. And no I dont mean when they break. When they break I pick them up and place them down again. But after a while they still dont catch anything, as if the area had no more animals. When I move them to a different place it works again, for a day or two.
This makes food automation really tedious. Am I missing something?

3) It seems like the range in which villagers transport stuff from camp to stockpile is really low. This leads to logs, ore etc piling up in the respective camp instead of being transported to my stockpile like 50m from the camp.
Am I supposed to build a bloody stockpile next to every camp which is more than 10m away from my base?!

4) I have tin next to my base (but still suffer from 3)), but copper is farthet away. Same for river reeds. How would I go about haevesting those resources? Should I place 1 camp + 1 stockpile, or actually build a mini-base where villagers can sleep? How will I support them with food? Do I need to set up transportation routes in both directiona to get supplies TO the outpost and harvested resources FROM the outpost?

All in all I am having a hard time keeping automation running. Most things work for a day or two, then I need to go around and manually fix everything. Especially logging camps and traps seemingly need to be moved a lot.
Any tips for me?

1. Check your priorities for tasks to ensure that your logging is not being beaten out by another task. Also, are they completing the order and then moving on?

2. I have also noticed that automated traps seem to cease functioning after a day or two. I gave up on trapping shortly after farming. If I need pelts, I just got kill wolves.

3. No clue about this one.

4. Long-range gathering, I simply do myself. I eat up, empty my inventory, then go grab all that I can. Not really an answer to automation, but it's the best I have. I have not really messed around with outposts at all, nor seen the need yet.

Only other possible tip is to make sure you are recruiting the right people. Check their stats before taking them on, many are worthless due to bad traits. Also, workers are skilled at different things. Not only can you set the priority of the work station, don't forget you can also set priorities for the worker's various tasks.

I hope this helped in some small way. Have fun!

I set logging to repetitive tasks.

Farms wont work in winter, right? But I guess thats what I'm gonna do as well.
Is there a way to set desired crops, other than hiding seeds from villagers?

Yes I know, I got 2 very good ones, but the first one I got I failed to check for good attributes.
However I did not find any dedicated task priority for logging. Does it count as harvesting? There seems to be woodcutting as skill, but not in the priorities.

What do the stats do anyway? E.g. harvesting 5/5 compared to 1/5. Will they gather more quickly? Will they get more stuff? As I see it, they all move at the same speed and have the same inventory space, so I am not sure what the attributes will even affect.

Correct, in the Winter, crops just pause growth. At least they don't die off!
You can set the priority for seed planting in the Farm manager. This includes turning particular seeds off. This does not always work, in my experience, as the workers sometimes ignore restrictions and plant things anyway.

Check in the Settlement Tab, under Population. Look for a little Axe Icon.

Yes, a 5/5 Harvester has a ton of bonuses due to their skill. If you hover over the skill level, it should show you a tooltip that gives the bonuses. It will also be under the workers Attributes tab at the bottom. Some items can not be used/crafted/researched unless they meet a certain level.

Agility effects movement speed, as does armor/clothing worn. A higher Agility will speed them up, while armor/clothing slows them down.
