There are actually 9 slots for drying in the Foraging Hut. And I agree...there should be access to this much sooner. They should give 3 on the Foraging Tent.
They can add a drying rack. If possible this can also lead to jerky since provision rots fast until you gain a cellar.
You cant do much, you have to wait until they add a task for them. Until then probably hide the berry somewhere else.
i have a similar problem. my villagers only dry mushrooms, no berries. i have set a dry mushroom limit in my stockpile, but they dont care. they only use mushrooms on the 9 drying rack slots. very annoying
The dried mushroom and berries collected from small settlement gets sent to other settlements to they don't complain about being hungry. Keeps all the "Good" food for main base. I have too much food (dried mushrooms, berries, veggies) But I don't mind spoiling some food if it makes sure I never run out.
