Why deer hunting is so hard?

Why deer hunting is so hard? I tried many time but always failed, so some quests are blocked. Relatively, hunting boars and wolves are quite easy.
Any tips are welcome.

I've noticed since last patch that you can get really close to the deer then take your shot.

I have 2 quests related to Deer, However, the deep running speed I cannot ``follow after hitting it, You must achieve headshort to have a chance of success.

1 shot = 0 kill
1 headshot = 1 kill

Still sad that you can not actually hurt them, they would run loosing little blood (can follow that path) and get weaker, so you could actually kill them with chasing and shoot several non headshots.
(like in medieval dynasty)

Das stimmt NICHT so ganz bleib stehen und warte kurz ab was das Wildtier macht das ist ziemlich real gehalten. Den nach einer weile kommt es zurück.
Das Symbol des Auges zeigt es gut an. Ein Offenes Auge weniger gut da kurz vor Entdeckung stehen könntest, ein schließendes Auge ist hilfreich da du derzeit weniger entdeckt werden kannst/wurdest.
Hinter her laufen bringt da nichts. Eben so hilfreich ist es real zu jagen via „STRG“ kannst du gehen und dich dem Tier besser nähern bevor ein Kopfschuss dem Tier ein schnelles ende setzt.
Also KEINE Panik wenn es KEIN Kopfschuss war. Es rennt zwar weg aber es besteht die Möglichkeit das es dir wieder entgegenkommt. Ruhe bewahren oberstes gebot bei der Wildtier Jagd.

That's NOT entirely true. Stop and wait for a moment to see what the wild animal does, it's pretty realistic. Because after a while it comes back.
The symbol of the eye shows it well. An open eye is less good because you could be on the verge of being discovered, a closed eye is helpful because you are currently less likely to be discovered.
Running after them doesn't help. It is just as helpful to hunt in real life using “CTRL” you can go and get closer to the animal before a headshot puts a quick end to the animal.
So DON'T panic if it wasn't a headshot. It may run away but there is a chance it will come towards you again. Staying calm is the top priority when hunting wild animals.

Cool, where's my pack of medieval hunting dogs they used? Or barbed arrows? Or shooting a stag in the heart like actual hunting? Nobody does a 'headshot'.

As your archery skill improves im going to assume(hope) at some point the damage will also. When actually bow hunting irl the head is rarely targetted due to bone deflection. The neck and lungs should be a quick bleed out in this game. I know its a game,,,
