If you can’t stand bugs and early access issues, then wait. But the game is playable and I’m already at 14 hours of enjoyment. So worth it for me
The game is awesome, I love it, I couldn't stop playing. Have you tried playing medieval dynasty ? it's x2 better than that. But before you buy make sure your computer is above minimum at least. If your pc specs minimum I think will have lag issues and other stuff and I am sure more update for the future and that also will have impact in your pc.
you should not wait.
Yes, you should buy it and gift the game to a friend to start up with you. I wish I had done that before my buddies went to Pax alpha for a week. *smh* but I didn't hear about this game until the day before the EA release.
The devs know they have a good game going. I will be busy for a few weeks trying to unlock the crafting tree. *note* it is a real crafting tree that looks like your Ancestry tree going back to your 15th grandfather.
At initial launch Bellwright is further along than many and more stable than most. E.G. Ark was a mess the first month. The game loop is engaging, it needs balance tweaking here and there (stamina, food, etc) but it's not bad, just things that could be better.
It's pretty short on hand holding so you have to figure things out but if you've played games like Rimworld you'll understand the NPC work order system.
From a game style I'd say it's like playing In Person Settlers or In Person Knights and Merchants.
All in all I'd say they've done really well, they face some pretty stiff opinion headwinds based on history with other games but I'm not sure what more they could be doing right now than having a playable game on day one and patching as things come up.
Combat is more similar to valheim so you might enjoy it, but if your use to mount & Blade medieval combat, its far from that.
NPC has many issues, ranging from bugging out in location, getting stuck, not following proper commands, to no formation in combat.
AS of now, the game is not suited for players of casual play timers, this game requires decent amount of playtime to even get to later stages. So if you are busy with work life and want a casual games, this is not geared towards that idea.
