Bellwright Mods
Ok guys .. I have downloaded the 'Joew's bellwigfht unlocker' (that is the mods spelling not mine ) to the Bellwright folder (the one that reads as 'steam app/ common/ bellwright) ... am I on the right track so far? or does it need to be placed another folder (as it has not created the 'mods' folder after the paks one yet (not added any other mod at present) ... just wanting to know if I am doing this right ... thanks in advance :)

the Mod enabler goes into the Binaries Folder
the mods go into this folder Content>Paks>-mods

have fun

some still dont work with the new update notably the mod to improve Stamina and Health, many of the others so work

the mods really do help make the game playable, in my humble opinon only, the food spoiling is needless and causes a lot of grinding. and the tiny tiny inventory is just impossible. other stuff can well be made optioinal for hard core players but as it is the game is..well unfinished as of yet.

@CrisGer ... it does not have a 'mods' folder after the paks folder so far ... is it created once I add a mod? (As in : Steam Library > steamapps > common > Bellwright >Bellwright > Binaries ) .. (this is the ' prime' unzipped Joew's unlocker I refer too on that path) ... yes? ... or another path?

You usually get the ~mods folder with any mod you download, or you can create it yourself. The unlocker don't create the folder. It goes into the Content->Paks folder as CrisGer mentioned, not the Binaries folder where the unlocker goes.

But where did you download from? The unlocker and mods I got from Nexusmods provide installation instructions already, and already has everything in the correct folder hierarchy so you can just copy over to corresponding folders.

Just be careful not to download from fishy sources.
I use Nexus Mods ... its instruction was to put the unlocker in the 'Root' directory ... I am just unsure exactly which one that is (Not a mod user generally ... just wish to see if they work) ... I downloaded it to my Downloads folder .. then copy / pasted it to the Bellwright folder ... I guess there is another method :( (And yes .. I need idiot proof instruction in this matter :P )

Maybe this will help. Here's my mods folder (note the address at the top):

https://ibb.co/pzkShTh

And my Binaries folder where the unlocker is:

https://ibb.co/BfLpJYz

EDIT: Binaries->Win64 that is.

so the unlocker gets unzipped to the Win64 folder... yes? (and does that create the mods folder into which I unzip the mods I want to add (( the ones dated after the last patch)) ) ? As when I tried a few weeks ago .. if I unzipped a mod it created a new bellwright > content > paks > mods path

Yes, the unlocker goes into the Bellwright->Binaries->Win64 folder. Copy the "bitfix" folder and "dsound.dll" file from the unlocker into the Win64 folder.

Then, when you download a mod, unzip it and copy the "~mods" folder (that contains the mod's .pak file) into the Bellwright->Content->Paks folder. If you want to install more mods, copy the mod .pak files into that same ~mods folder.

I usually just unzip everything somewhere else and then copy everything over to Bellwright.

@Dragon " Copy the "bitfix" folder and "dsound.dll" file from the unlocker into the Win64 folder." does it not automaticall do that when I put the unzipped unlocker into the Win64 folder? or is the one from the unlocker meant to ovewrite the original ones?

Just check if the "bitfix" folder and "dsound.dll" file is located in the Win64 folder. If they're there, you're all set. There are no originals of that folder and file.

If not, unzip the unlocker on the desktop or somewhere, it will create a Bellwright folder where you unzipped it. Then, in that unzipped Bellwright folder, go to Binaries->Win64 and you'll find the "bitfix" folder and "dsound.dll" file there. Copy them and paste them in the game's Win64 folder.
it has those two files in the unlocker folder ... but not native in the Win64 folder ... so I copy them from the unlocker and place them in the Win64 one.. yes

ok... copied them to Win64 and now they reside in the Win64 folder where the D3D12 folder and Bellwright game Win64 shipping stuff lives... yes? (now they are there ... do I delete the unlocker folder they came from? )

Yes, that's right. You can compare with the screenshot I posted earlier if you want to be sure.

You can delete the unlocker folder they came from if you want. It won't be needed from here on.

To install a mod, do the same for the ~mods folder. Unzip the mod somewhere and copy the ~mods folder from the mod's Content->Paks folder to the game's Content->Paks folder. You will then have all the game's native .pak files in this folder with the ~mods folder. The .pak files for all the mods you use will be inside the ~mods folder.
@Dragon ... yes ... I have added a few mods ,,, unzipped them ... foolowed their new path to the DMVK file at the end and transfered that to the mods folder .. then deleted the folder they came in ( I hope I did that right ... Thanks for your patience Dragon :)

No problem! I hope all goes well.

The easier method normally used is to just unzip and choose the game's main folder (the "root" folder) as the unzip location but, doing it manually is a better way to get the hang of things. And to make sure everything is in the right place.

Just a bit of advice, use mods carefully. The game is still Early Access so updates will break mods, it is usually best to disable automatic updates for the game and only update the game after mods has been updated as well (you will have to redownload and reinstall updated mods). If you experience crashes, remove all mods and add them back one at a time to find the culprit.
I am using the Void Kittens ones updated on the 19th of June ( by darkness kitten) the modder talks of a tool they are working on a modkit to make the mods work smoother ... again .. Thanks
