Is practice fights gain villager exp a bug ?

After the newest update the practice system dropped. I tried to fight with my best sword man for fun but I soon realize she get level up on her strength during the fight then I start on training my low skill level villager by dual with them.

But not every combat relay skill can be level up through this way, I test archery and nimble and both of them didn't work. It seem fair tho, since training archery by dual almost meaning you AFK with your villager wasting arrow on you but also seem not right at some point.

It make me wonder if villager gaining exp during practice just a bug since no other combat related skills be side strength can be level up by this ? Tbh, I hope that's not a bug cause is quite a brilliant way to train village at less is fuxk times better then feeding them books which is bored as fuxk and really easy to forget.

Having a feature like this in the game makes perfect sense, doesn't it?

I agree with this take, I hope it's intended. Leveling up Combat Skills on Villagers takes FOREVER with just Books.

Brigands, Bandits.... live action practice.... on the job training.

Its intended, but still very slow I think. I did a practice fight with one of my villagers and they gained around 22xp in strength for that fight....that is not a lot and considering I need thousands of xp points I do not see me doing all these practice fights with them to level them up.
Would be great if we had a way of telling them to do practice fights together, without me.

I be thinking that as well. Maybe adding training dummy, arrow target into the game make them gain exp passively and maybe dev can also make some exp boosting mechanics to make dualing more valuable to high level. for example if villager have better gear when you defeat them can gain them more exp since that's harder for you to defeat them.

Imo I rather dual with them than bring them to hunt brigands. I did try to set up a boot camp on a path where have multiple npc patrols a day and watch rookies fighting those patrols with drill sergeants and me overguarding them. But it didn't really work quite well some rookies often get bulling to death pretty early and npc patrols is also not that frequent consider to how complex to set up the boot camp every time and how many resource consumed to running it I just feel it doesn't worth for troubles especially when I can now bully them 24 7 through day and night non-stop myself with only cost some berry and couple swords.
