They do a task, then they go do another task based on the priorities you given them and what open jobs there is.
If you want someone just focused on cooking, give them that as only task with highest priority, along with a lower priority of delivery. Regardless, when they go to sleep they don't care about your meat burning -)
They put food on, and walk away. Task complete.
If the food is done and someone with delivery is available, they grab the food. New task.
If no one is immediately available, the burn timer is ticking.
I'm guessing you're not getting what I'm asking for...
Putting food on to cook should not "complete a task", it should just start the task. Taking the food up and putting it away should complete the task.
If they put food on to cook, they don't go to bed until they complete the task.
But yeah, I disable cooking fires and smokers both because they start them all cooking just before they go to bed and because they used up all the mushrooms and wood.
Then I set the cook to haul .... but I want him to haul his cooked stuff ... not run all over the map getting 2 wood here ..... 1 linen there ..... and the meat still gets burned.
Then there is nighttime, they set stuff to smoke before going to bed .... and of course the meat gets burned while I m out to fight/find stuff.
