STOP DROPPING THINGS!
Get rid of it, it's a bad game mechanic. I just found a dropped bag with a bunch of steel ingots that vanished on me before I could put them into my inventory. The very NPC's I have recruited to help me are undermining me at every move, and this is one of the worst. I'm sick and tired of losing things to this frustrating game mechanic. If the items they drop after getting hung up and teleporting are going to go *POOF*, then for the love of all that is sane, please just make them unable to drop things. It wouldn't be a big deal if the items they dropped accumulated until I, or another NPC picked them up again, but this isn't happening. I'm losing my hard earned resources to a faulty game mechanic. Please get rid of it. That, or don't let the items they drop disappear! :steamfacepalm:

Edited to tone down my frustration..

I concur 100 percent.

I think that items dropped in base area should be automaticaly deposited into any available storage instead of disappearing god knows where/or getting deleted.

This problem is mostly caused by pathfinding and having structures too close to each other.

It's a trait some of them have. Can't remember the name of it now but I remember a villager of mine had a trait with like 5% to 'drop' what they are carrying. Get rid of them.

This is likely a known bug we have where NPC's will change tasks from one thing to another and instead of finding a stockpile to throw their stuff into they immediately drop it onto the ground and start the next thing. I believe the devs are working on improved logic to make this less frustrating so we apologize for the clunkiness you've experienced so far with it and we'll look into getting it fixed.

Doesnt that apply only to weapons and combat?

Not sure, I don't remember it specifying. If I find another villager like that I might test.

Standing just before a fight, gathering all the villagers and then realising that three have no bows, quivers or arrows is a little frustrating and right before the fight... awkward. I had hoped that this problem would be fixed with the latest patch. But unfortunately not.
Please fix this problem.

They repair their weapons but don't equip it back. Also, they are always hungry as companion. Those things must be fixed.

You are lucky for each thing they repair, depending on size of your settlement most things are being REBUILT not repaired because they throw them to the ground whenever the hit an obstacle or jave sudden change of intents and the game casualy deletes it all, no matter how expensive it was, since it was on the ground in your base. At least Basd are shoild completely block despawning of items.

I know that games have resource sink mechanics but rebuilding hammers, axes and whatnot each day just because the earth sucked them in is not very user friendly.

E. G. I keep finding regularly 4-8 axes on the ground near lumberjacks facility. If I dont - no one picks them up, they get diapawned and my toolmakers have to build new ones again and again...

Yes that trait where they have a % chance of dropping things is a bit annoying. However.... its is there and when recruiting you dont have to recruit that NPC.....

Still you can completely ignore it as if it was not even in the game since the bug that causes NPCs to drop things all over the settlement is far beyond this miniscule negative trait. Untill that gets fixes, you will never see and even if you do - ypu will never know if it is due to the zrait or the buh that all NPCs are subject to.

I have the same issue. Had to send them axes and bow everyday with arrows :)
