2 days until winter

Just started and it's winter soon.. is this a bug? Or i was supposed to prepare for winter already ;/?

From the start, it's 5 days till winter. You must have been exploring for 3 days. The idea is that you run into town, talk to the leader and then go build a hut to sleep and return the next day. That first night is five days from winter. Winter lasts about 5-7 days, I'm not sure exactly, I haven't paid attention, it may even vary. The worst thing is that all the ground food will vanish until spring. You can hunt, and buy food in Hearndean, but there's nothing to gather during winter. I think the cold has some effect on your attributes, but it wont kill you or effect your health. If you don't want to sleep, you can also tell that winter is coming when some of the leaves on the trees start to turn colors. Surviving the elements is a lot easier than surviving the politics.

Yes it like MD, you start game and prepare for winter. You just can pick up food, herb, plants on ground, cant dig anything too

seasons are variable, my first winter was only 2 days

Don't worry, winter isn't bad. There is no starving or freezing mechanic, or only a minor buff for freezing... Most annoying thing that can happen is that your followers are out of food and will not work since they wander around searching for food... If nothing to do, go hunting. It has quite a learning curve, and the white snow makes the detection of animals a little easier... Plus, it's very pretty in the landscape :)
