Feeding Your Army
Is there an easier way to feed the army other than manually talking to all of your soldiers and handing them food?

Some say you can order them to interact with a food storage, but I have never gotten that to work.

I wish that when you do so, they should fill their inventory with food, so you don't have to manually fill them up.

I think a good update would be to - once you summon your army, they stock up to at least 3 foods before running to your position.

Yes and no.

use the flag order on the place you store food and they eat the best 3 different food in that storage. But they dont fill their inventory with extras.

That funktion is at least useful to top them up before a raid hits your camp/village.

If you need to go on an expedition with your little retinue, than yes. there is no other way right now to fill your and their inventory to the brim with food per hand.

If you know you have to travel far beforehand place down a travel sign and a stockpile halfway or near the site you want to attack and stock some food via fast travel You fill them up with enough low level food (only one type) to make it to the Stockpile location where you have the other 2 food types stored to top them up for the fight.

Not a bad idea. I will start doing that. I just tested and when commanding an army of 2, I order them to the stock and they will grab weapons but not grab any food. Any thoughts?

Try having a storage with only food and see if that works?

You need to make one storage only food and the other only equipment and order them to one and then the other. You can restrict what is stored via the menu in each one

i only just figured out how to give my helper new clothes i guess givng him food may work the same way, he get what he needs from various places, ..and oine time he grabbed some stuff i was cooking before i could get to it greedy fellow. so i have to carry importat food on my own storage or he will snatch it.

You can command them to harvest mushroom or berries if you pass some on the way to your combat spot too (using the flag and getting them to interact). Can't guarantee they will all get some mushrooms/berries though. also, you will need to call them back after since once the patch you set them on is clear, they will spread out looking for more. And yes, this works for other harvestible stuff too).

edit: another trick is having/building a storage on the way/at your destination even if you do not store food there and carry it with you - put the food from your inventory into the storage, and then take it back out. The decay timer will be reset for all but 1, since only the top item in a food stack decays in storage.

My NPCs just take food wherever they find it in the camp.

workers feed themselves in camp, but companions do not - they get hungry enough they revert to workers and head back to settlement for food. Not sure about guards.
