After liberation

If I liberate a village and get the status Bellwright by building and helping or trading and quests, do I also need to sell them armor and weapons if I build the two armee buildings ( archery and training grounds) or will they be able to protect themselves without further help after I did build those buildings? Will they at all protect themselves without my help?

Asking because the game gets pretty annoying by the attacks after a while ;)

I've not quite got to that stage yet but would also be interested to know if we can get the villages to a point that they don't need protecting

Ok I tested this meanwhile, I did not sell them weapons, but armor.
About 40 real life playing hours later, years after they got the buildings to learn to protect themselves they did not protect themselves against the incoming brigades and I was seriously sick and tired to do that all the time for them.

So that whole system is kinda completely useless, the military buildings did not do anything for them and a lot of additional houses I did build did also not extend their guards which is also stupid!

Yeah it seems feature-incomplete right now. They call themselves "liberated" and yet they're still wholly dependent on you. You need to be able to work on making them defend themselves (which should just simply deter the brigans from trying to reclaim).
