Worker not mining?

I have set up a new settlement with a mining camp, a worker set to harvest/gather with a storage chest and house. I have placed a simple pick in the mining camp and a spare in the chest. The worker is not hungry. He is staying idle? He is assigned, as are all the buildings to the new settlement? I have seen this happen to others. Any one tell me if I am missing something or is this a bug? What is the setting for mining, I have harvest at 1, all other options are greyed out as this is stand alone only mining in this settlement.

This was a question ;-)
If they have to mine copper/tin your simple pick and the tier 1 miningpost should work, for Iron you need the Tier 2 miningpost AND the tier 2 pickaxe.

and mining is an harvestjob, you are right in this way

Is there a work order to mine? You got set a work order for x amount of ore or they have no actual job there... Also why do you guys keep canceling other jobs? Like I never got that put one to 1 And you don't got cancel the rest of the jobs they still got move the ore to the stockpile to deliver it... Also they can still gather their own food with a gathers hut.

But they needs work orders at the mine building and they also should be allowed to deliver sigh..

Is the camp close enough to ore nodes?
Did you set the mining task for "once" or "top off"?
Did you dis-allow anything in storage and maybe turn off ore?

Try changing your villager swap them around as i had same issue and swapping seemed to work
