That can be said about any other game similar. Conan, 7Days, Ark, Myth of Empires, Rust, The Front, Project Zomboid, enshrouded, heck even LiF:YO etc any other survival game in the same type of genre has dedicated hosting options for co-op gameplay. Once your friends progress too far it can ruin the experience for the rest of the group. That's more of a personal group issue vs what the OP is talking about.
I disagree, I've hosted many server for aforementioned game list above to include clusters. Game client on Steam auto-updates, hosting panel for most of these dedicated servers also have auto-updates and you can set how often it restarts and even checks for said updates. Most of which is all automatic. Updating game client or hosting server is ez pz no matter how many updates the developers desire to throw out. The only complication with mass regular updates is modding. The mod authors have to update their mods after the fact which is usually a little behind. No such thing as out of sync based on daily updates, which I doubt this game will have again.
This could be something the developers changed if they decided to add proper server hosting. This will bring more gamers together into co-op multiplayer vs the current system that isn't favorable requiring host to always be online to play.

Hi JCFreakEd,
That's an intriguing twist! Adding PvP could indeed spice things up and provide continuous engagement, even for those returning after a break. It adds a whole new dynamic to the gameplay. Definitely something for the devs to consider if it fits the overall theme and balance of the game. Thanks for the suggestion!
Great to hear you're on board with the idea of dedicated servers, JCFreakEd! It seems like this could be a popular move that many in our community would appreciate. More stability and flexibility could really enhance our gaming sessions. Let’s hope we can get enough momentum behind this idea to make it a reality!
yesyou are an user that hsot server ... nto a developer that has to programm that features... That is a compeltely different story. While you say it is ez pz I doubt that you have had to programm dedicated server support. I have to do that on daily basis. The issue is not writing cronjobs on a server. The real issue is programming the supprot for that feature.
Hey loy1, I appreciate your enthusiasm for making our game stand out with new features! 🎮👍
Zalzany, you bring up a great point that while new features like dedicated servers are appealing, they could make Bellwright similar to other games. It’s a delicate balance between uniqueness and functionality.
Hi Steinaar,
Great insights on dedicated servers, drawing from your extensive hosting experience. Your suggestions for game design adjustments, like auto-respawning camps and dynamic quests, could indeed make co-op play more engaging for everyone. Appreciate your detailed input—it helps shape a richer discussion on enhancing Bellwright Game Co-op.
Thanks for contributing!
Code is done by AI anyways or at the least we've been using programs to clean our code for a long time now. Don't reinvent the wheel, find someone that knows how to use whatever engine you are on and has experience with getting dedicated servers and hire them. Even if it's for a short duration. Contract work, doesn't have to be for a full year's salary unless the work requires it.
That was Ruffio that was mentioning the content needing to be a bit richer for dedicated servers. Also Ruffio on the idea of making the dedicated server multiplayer version vs single player have slightly different variables such as quests/camps respawn to keep the world feeling alive longer. We can def go into more and better details about the shape of the dedicated servers if the developers need those ideas and or supports adding dedicated servers in the first place.
I did buy this game for what it is, not what other people want it to be. As with any games. I play for my enjoyment and entertainment, not yours. And the thought of devs invest time and resources into make it a server based game with all the bells and whistles really needed for that.... that is far down on my list. -)
There is plenty of survival type, serrver based games out there... not every game need to be one.
Hi Steinaar,
Thanks for clarifying that and my apologies for the mix-up with attributing ideas. Your points about leveraging existing tools and expertise in dedicated server setup are well-taken. It's a practical approach that can streamline development without reinventing the wheel. Your perspective on contract work for specialized tasks is particularly insightful and could be a viable strategy for the development team. Let’s hope they consider these feasible and effective solutions to enhance the game's co-op experience. Looking forward to more of your thoughts!
Hi Ruffio,
You make a valid point about perfecting the current co-op experience before expanding into new territories like server-based gameplay. It’s crucial that the core game remains enjoyable for those who appreciate it as it is. Balancing the original appeal with potential enhancements is definitely a challenge for developers. Thanks for sharing your perspective on prioritizing the game’s current strengths!
